Every year around this time as the festive cheer spreads across, a new lease of life gets injected into the travel sector, as the passenger foot falls increase. The year began with a major step forward. The coveted Superbrands status was conferred upon Amadeus for the fifth consecutive time in recognition of our outstanding innovative leadership to the global travel and tourism industry. The Indian aviation industry is now on a high growth trajectory. India has a vision of becoming the third largest aviation market by 2020 and is expected to be the largest by 2030. While there is sufficient reason to rejoice at the above achievements and policy reforms, one should not lose sight of the short term despair. To accommodate this growth, Indian aviation industry has been pursuing an ambitious plan to develop and upgrade its airport infrastructure and increasingly banking on new technologies to provide better customer service and experience and gain a competitive edge. There is an immense potential for growth of the Indian civil aviation industry provided certain structural deficiencies are corrected. It would serve as a key enabler for economic growth, employment creation and tax revenues. The New Year will bring its own mix of successes and challenges, but our direction is clear and we know what we must do. I want you to cherish your own dreams both in your work and your private life. The process of pursuing dreams one step at a time will not only lift your spirits up, but also touch people’s hearts and encourage them. May I offer my best wishes to you, and to your families, for success, good health and happiness throughout 2015! 3 Internal Journal Bird Group participates in CII Tourism Fest, 2014 Bird Group participated in the CII Tourism Fest-2014 held from 5 -7th December, at the Parade Grounds, Sector- 17, Chandigarh. With a view to enhance the visibility and the capabilities in the Tourism and Hospitality industry by involving the private sector, institutions, entrepreneurs, infrastructure companies related to this sector; and to attract the international as well as domestic tourists, Confederation of India Industry (CII) organized the Tourism Fest 2014. The event was inaugurated by S Sohan Singh Thandal, minister of tourism, Government of Punjab and RV Deshpande, tourism minister, Government of Karnataka on December 5, 2014 at Parade Ground, sector 17, Chandigarh, the fest showcased the enormous tourism potential in the region and create a roadmap for inclusive and seamless tourism across the region, nation and globe. Dusit Devarana wins yet another accolade Dusit Devarana, New Delhi has won the prestigious “World Luxury Travel Award” in the category of Luxury Boutique Hotel. The awards gala ceremony was conducted on 06th Dec 2014 at The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay, South Africa. The World Luxury Hotel Awards is known as the highest accolade that properties can receive and accounts for over 50 categories in the luxury hotel industry and are judged on service excellence and voted for by guests themselves who stay at the properties. This time around there was a record participation by over 145 countries for the awards. Congratulations to Team Dusit Devarana for the achievement. 4 Internal Journal iSKATE Blades For Glory 2014 - Ice Skating Championship Gurgaon welcomed the chill in the air with the first ever ice skating championship, Blades For Glory, in the city. Organized at iSkate from 12-14th December 2014 in Ambience Mall, the event saw participation not just from the city, but from all over the country including neighboring areas like Meerut as well as other states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The three-day event brought out the skating talent of the city, competing in events like speed racing and figure skating. Final day at skating rink saw a closing ceremony for the event which also included the award distribution ceremony. German Christmas Mart Christmas Day Celebrations This year too the fun-filled Christmas market took place in December at the grounds of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, New Delhi. The highlights of the event this year were Christmas carols, german beer, gingerbread house, traditional german Christmas cakes and a stunningly decorated venue. Like every year this time again, Bird Group was one of the promoters of this event. Over 100 exhibitors presented an exclusive palate of interesting lifestyle products and unique gifting ideas for the festive season. CCU Team celebrated Christmas with all the fellow colleagues on 23rd December 2014 with loads of fun. The HOD’s came forward to share the enjoyment by sponsoring the evening snacks for all the team members. Indoor game - Tambola was organized by Ms. Avanti which increased the excitement of the game.
