For seventy-eight years First Baptist Church has stood as a beacon of hope in Cortez.
Through the years and through a number of people and outreach programs, many have come
to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior! The reason we continue to be a
beacon of hope is because we have sought to be a reflection of Christ's love. As we continue to
look toward the future, it is my hope that we can continue the strong tradition at First Baptist
of reaching out to our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As you look through this pictorial directory and see the many faces, remember three things:
First, each person is special to God, and the reason Jesus died on the cross. Second, each
person is created by God and called to serve God in a special way. Finally, each person is a
reflection of the image of God, and together we are the body of Christ.
Each person plays an important part in the life of our church. I am honored to serve you as
pastor. If I can be of assistance to you in any way, please feel free to call on me day or night.

Sunday School class.
