COMITÉ MARITIME INTERNATIONAL SECRETARY-GENERAL 30 January 2015 Dear CMI Colleagues & Friends CMI 2015 ISTANBUL I am pleased to let you know that the website for the CMI Istanbul Colloquium, due to take place between 7th and 9th June 2015, is now up and running at www.cmi2015istanbul.org. cmi colloquium 2015 (estambul).docx 1/2 The event is being hosted by the CMI with the Turkish Maritime Law Association, and has two main working themes: first, the on-going efforts of the CMI’s International Working Group on General Average to review and amend the York-Antwerp Rules. Our hope is that sufficient progress will be made before, during and after Istanbul to enable us to aim for amendments of the Rules to be carried at our next full conference in New York in May 2016. And second, a seminar on Offshore Drilling Regulation & Liabilities has been put together by the CMI and the Turkish MLA with the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law. In addition, there will be papers on locally relevant topics of great interest to all - including current issues of straits law. There will again be Young CMI speakers, and the winner of CMI prize for best overall performance at IMLI has been invited to present a paper. We will also be conducting the CMI’s annual business – in the form of EXCO, International Working Group and Sub-Committee meetings during the preceding weekend. The annual CMI Assembly will take place on Tuesday afternoon, 9th June. The social events, including a Bosphorus dinner cruise and the customary gala dinner will hopefully complement the working programme to make for a memorable stay in magnificent, fascinating Istanbul.
