Predoctoral position opening Candidates are sought for a pre-doctoral position. The objective is to complete a PhD in the field of 3D image sensors in CMOS technology. The job opening is associated to the project: Title: Smart-CIS-3D: Smart CMOS image sensors for time-of-flight estimation and embedded analytics of 3D images. Project code: P12-TIC-2338 Summary: This project deals with the design of sensors that can handle both, maps of light intensities and maps of depths, i. e. 2D and 3D information. Several approaches will be considered, including the study of detectors based on single-photon avalanche diodes. We will systematically explore different possibilities for the incorporation of intelligence to 3D-image sensors. Our objective will be the adaptation of the system response and the in-situ processing and extraction of features from the captured image. We will study different architectures, signal processing building blocks and the proper illumination schemes. Potential candidates: need to have graduated in Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering or Physics. They need to be in the position to enroll the Doctorate Program in Physical Sciences and technologies of the University of Seville. This means having an official master degree or having earned the amount of post-graduate credits demanded in the call. Resources and facilities: this research will be carried about at the Institute of Microelectronics of Seville (CSIC-University of Seville). The selected candidate will be integrated into the Research Group on Analog and Mixed-Signal Microelectronics.
