weekly newsletter 9.1.15 Luckwell Primary School, Breach Road, Bedminster, Bristol BS3 3ET Tel: 0117 353 3382 website: www.luckwell.bristol.sch.uk Email: [email protected] Dear Parents Welcome back and Happy New Year! You will have no doubt heard that 2015 started out in fairly unusual circumstances with a whole school evacuation whilst a gas leak was identified and fixed. Whilst I wouldn’t choose to start the year that way, it did demonstrate that everyone involved could think quickly, make good decisions and stay safe. This is reassuring should any other out of the ordinary events occur! FRENCH ASSISTANT On Monday we welcome Barbara Reboullet from Agen who will be working in our classes for the next fortnight. You can read a little more about her on our new website. READING INFORMATION EVENING There will be a reading information evening for parents on Monday 19th January at 6pm. We will share information about the teaching of reading at Luckwell and ways you can support your children. There will also be information on reading for pleasure. RECEPTION ADMISSIONS If your child was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 you need to apply for a school place by 15 January 2015. Ffi www.bristol.gov.uk/schooladmissions. PARENTS’ FORUM We held the first of this year’s parents’ forums (fora?) yesterday. There was very interesting discussion around a range of issues, from EZY pay to how we will celebrate Bristol’s successful Green Capital bid in 2015. Full notes will be published on the website by next Thursday. There are two more forums scheduled in 2015: 18 March at 6.00pm & 8 June at 2.00pm WANTED Parent helpers are required in Y2 to help with maths badges & sound certificates. THANK YOU A massive thank you to everyone who contributed to the food bank. SCHOOL DINNERS Next week is Week 3 on the Autumn Menu. HOUSEPOINT WINNERS This week’s joint winners were PENDLETON AND PEACOCK. Well done!
