Karen Bennett Sheila Foy Tom Hayes Bob Layton Be sure to thank the outgoing elders for their work and commitment to the ministry of the church. The Annual MPC Session Retreat Saturday, January 24 9:30 a.m. First Presbyterian Church Welcome, Session Class of 2017! Tim Bennett Louise Postley Ann Staton Be sure to thank the incoming elders for their willingness to serve as leaders in the church. Happy 2015! I hope you’re enjoying your Christmas season! As we Scott’s begin this new year, perhaps one of your resolutions is to find a new way to get involved at MPC and help the staff and the Session Thoughts breathe new life into the ministry we are doing together. One of my goals for 2015 is to get to know each one of you better. Every one of you will be receiving an invitation around your birthday for a free drink at my expense (coffee, tea, soda, lemonade, smoothie, Icee, milk shake, beer, margarita, etc…) and for conversation that only costs our time. I hope you will cash in those coupons, and I hope you will not feel limited to only that one opportunity for conversation. (Incidentally, if you have no interest in conversation with me, feel free to tell me that, too!) ☺ MPC faces a growing challenge each year to re-commit to ministry (often with fewer resources at our disposal), so as we look towards 2015...as we consider new ways to reach out to the community around us...as we discover new ways to connect with members and friends who are not actively involved in the life of this congregation...and as we continue to dream and go and be and do...let’s do it with as much energy, intelligence, imagination, and love we can. ...an inclusive, caring, community of God’s people, sharing the love of Jesus Christ through worship, mutual support, and community service. Once the teams have been decided, place your donated cans on the side that represents the team you support to win the Super Bowl. If you don’t have a preference, try to place your cans evenly between the two sides. Once the Super Bowl is over all donations will go in the blue barrels for God’s Pantry. “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.” January Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday USHERS WORSHIP LEADERS Gladys Heiser 4 - Sally McGuire Wendell Grider 11 - Nell Valentine Ima Lea Grider 18 - Nora Warman <Your Name> 25- John Everly 5 4 6 11:00 a.m. Worship 11 6:00 p.m. Girl Scouts 7:00 p.m. Leatherworkers 12 9:30 a.m. Prayer Group 9:45 a.m. Sunday School 11:00 a.m. Worship 1 p.m. -5 p.m. Pine Wood Derby Workshop 18 1 Friday 2 8 13 3 Girl Scout Lock-in Ends 9 10 Unhanging of the Greens 6:00 p.m. Dinner 6:00 p.m. Boy Scouts Saturday Girl Scout Lock-in Begins The Day of Epiphany 9:30 a.m. Prayer Group 9:45 a.m. Sunday School 7 Thursday 7:00 p.m. Choir Rehearsal 14 4:30 p.m. 1*2*1 Tutoring of the Bluegrass 15 9 a.m. -5 p.m. Pine Wood Derby Workshop 16 17 2:00 p.m. Monday Circle 9:00 a.m. Breakfast at Meadowthorpe Café 6:00 p.m. Girl Scouts 6:00 p.m. Dinner 7:00 p.m. Leatherworkers 6:00 p.m. Boy Scouts 7:00 p.m. THAT Circle 19 7:00 p.m. Choir Rehearsal 21 20 4:30 p.m. 1*2*1 Tutoring of the Bluegrass 22 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Pine Wood Derby Workshop 23 24 9:30 a.m. Prayer Group 9:45 a.m. Sunday School 11:00 a.m. Worship 1 p.m. -5 p.m. Pine Wood Derby Workshop 25 6:00 p.m. Dinner 6:00 p.m. Girl Scouts 6:00 p.m. Boy Scouts 7:00 p.m. Leatherworkers 26 7:00 p.m. Choir Rehearsal 28 27 9:30 a.m. Session Retreat (First PC, Lex) 4:30 p.m. 1*2*1 Tutoring of the Bluegrass 2 p.m.. -8 p.m. Pine Wood Derby Workshop 29 30 4:30 p.m. 1*2*1 Tutoring of the Bluegrass 7:00 p.m. MOVIE NIGHT 31 9:30 a.m. Prayer Group 9:45 a.m. Sunday School 11:00 a.m. Worship 1p.m. -5 p.m. Pine Wood Derby Workshop 6:00 p.m. Dinner Mission Meal 6:00 p.m. Girl Scouts 7:00 p.m. Leatherworkers 6:00 p.m. Boy Scouts 7:00 p.m. Choir Rehearsal 10:00 a.m. Committee Chairs Meeting
