Welcome,
Session Class of 2017!
Tim Bennett
Louise Postley
Ann Staton
Be sure to thank the incoming
elders for their willingness to
serve as leaders in
the church.
Happy 2015! I hope you’re enjoying your Christmas season! As we
Scott’s
begin this new year, perhaps one of your resolutions is to find a
new way to get involved at MPC and help the staff and the Session
Thoughts
breathe new life into the ministry we are doing together. One of my
goals for 2015 is to get to know each one of you better. Every one
of you will be receiving an invitation around your birthday for a free drink at my expense
(coffee, tea, soda, lemonade, smoothie, Icee, milk shake, beer, margarita, etc…) and for
conversation that only costs our time. I hope you will cash in those coupons, and I hope you
will not feel limited to only that one opportunity for conversation. (Incidentally, if you have
no interest in conversation with me, feel free to tell me that, too!) ☺ MPC faces a growing
challenge each year to re-commit to ministry (often with fewer resources at our disposal), so
as we look towards 2015...as we consider new ways to reach out to the community around
us...as we discover new ways to connect with members and friends who are not actively
involved in the life of this congregation...and as we continue to dream and go and be and
do...let’s do it with as much energy, intelligence, imagination, and love we can.
...an inclusive, caring, community of God’s people, sharing the love of Jesus Christ
through worship, mutual support, and community service.

Bring your cans of soup and support your “Souper” Bowl Team! During the month of January
you can place your soup on the football field in the church hallway. Once the teams have been
decided, place your donated cans on the side that represents the team you support to win the
Super Bowl. If you don’t have a preference, try to place your cans evenly between the two
sides. Once the Super Bowl is over all donations will go in the blue barrels for God’s Pantry.
“Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game,
help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.”
