Upcoming Events
Welcome 2015!
Welcome back! We hope everyone
had a great winter break. We are
excited to see what the New Year will
bring for our Farley Community. We
have several events planned between
now and the end of the school year. Please watch for flyers, emails
and the newsletter to stay informed. As always, we encourage you to
become involved and volunteer.
The temperatures have been cold since our return to school. Please
make sure your student(s) are appropriately dressed for the weather
and write his or her name inside of articles of clothing that may
become lost.
We have plenty of winter ahead. Please review the district’s school
closing policy and how you can check to see if our district is effected:
The decision to close school because of severe weather is made by
the Superintendent. Closing information will be shared for
announcement with local radio and television stations as well as
posted on the district website www.usd437.net and at
www.facebook.com/auburnwashburn. In addition, a recorded
message will be available at 339-4000.

On Wednesday, January 14th from 6:00 – 7:00PM, we will be having

meet at the school cafeteria at 6:00PM for FREE pizza and drinks.
At 6:30 we will have a presentation about our Watch D.O.G.S.®
(Dads Of Great Students) Program. Our goal is to have you spend
at least one day this year at the school to be a positive male role
model and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears. Forms to
participate have been sent home and will need to be returned
ASAP for an accurate head count for the food. Dads,
Granddads, Uncles, Step-Dads and adult Brothers…this is your
chance to have a night out alone with your student in a fun
atmosphere at school.
Sincerely, David Hinkle

ARE YOU GETTING ALL FARLEY COMMUNICATION?
Are you receiving email and texts from Farley? If not, we ask that
you add these options through Parent Portal. Farley uses email and
text to communicate important changes, reminders, monthly
newsletters, etc throughout the year. Typically, you will only receive
one or two emails/texts per month. You may also add options to
receive email and/or text notifications for emergencies,
attendance, behavior, and teacher communication. You can
add email and text options through your Parent Portal
account. Simply select the Contact Preferences tab on the left
side of the main Parent Portal page and click on the selections you wish to add. Questions? Call the
Farley main office at 408-8300

Late Arrival, Transportation Changes and Dismissal
Students that are late must be physically signed in by a parent/guardian or it will be considered
and unexcused tardy. If your student will be tardy or absent, please contact the school before
9:30am to ensure they are accounted for and can receive a hot lunch if needed. In the event of
transportation changes, the Farley office must be made aware of any change no later than
2:30pm. Please note that teachers may not be able to access emails throughout the day and this
is not the best means of informing the school of a same-day change. Lastly, normal release time is
3:45pm. Car riders must be picked up promptly at 3:45pm. Failure to do so could result in action
from our district office.
Lunch with a Student
When an adult visits for lunch, we ask that the adult dine only with his/her child. This should be a
special time for adult and child. All Farley students are aware of this school policy. This decision was
made in an effort to eliminate several instances of peer pressure, favoritism, hurt feelings, and even
bribery between students. Please also note: While we allow outside food/drink to be brought in for
lunch during these visits, it is against USD437 policy to bring in lunch for any other child. Thank you for
understanding.
A Note from the Health Room
The need for clean/dry pants and underwear has been a common problem so far this year in the
Health Room and the supply is running low! If you have any gently used pants, shorts, sweats or
jeans in any kid sizes that you are wanting to get rid of, it would be greatly appreciated if you
would consider donating them to the Health Room. Boy pants are the greatest need currently!
Also, please consider donating new underwear. Thank you!
