Our vans are equipped with child car seats to ensure your child’s safety while transporting. Evening Programs: Child care is NOT usually available in the evenings. If you are unable to attend without child care, please mention this and arrangements MAY be possible. PARENT EDUCATION PRIME TIME FOR LEARNING: This program is fun, hands on and informative. Come join in a time to discover ways to help young children learn. Caregivers will learn effective strategies to help children develop their language, literacy skills and to think creatively. Parents of children ages 0-6 years are welcome to attend. Tuesday mornings: 9:30 - 11:15am January 6 – February 24, 2015 THE INCREDIBLE YEARS: Join us to learn about how to make positive changes at home while parenting your children ages 25 years. Tuesday afternoons: 1:30 – 3:15pm January 6 – February 24, 2015 POSITIVE DISCIPLINE: Is helpful with strengthening parent-child relationships from ages 0-17 years. It enhances parent/child problem-solving skills and promotes emotional self-regulation of both parents and children. Thursday mornings: 9:30 – 11:15am January 8 – March 12, 2015 PARENTING TEENS WITH LOVE & LIMITS: Being the parent of a teenager is rewarding, exciting & challenging. It can be a time of rapid development, growth, learning & change. Join us for this 8 week program that helps strengthen the parent/teen relationship. Tuesday evenings: 7:00 – 9:00pm January 13 – March 3, 2015 BECAUSE I LOVE YOU: A parenting program for parents with young children who want to get to know other parents, relax and have fun while talking about life with baby. Topics include: bonding with baby, childproofing and safety, mealtimes, routines, discipline, learning through play, stress, quality child care and other topics of interest to the group. Thursday afternoons: 1:30 – 3:15pm January 22 – March 12, 2015 PARENTS & TEACHERS: Come and learn how to build a rapport with your child’s teacher. You’ll hear suggestions on how to talk to the teacher and even what questions to ask in parent-teacher conferences. We will have an Early Years teacher as our guest to share her experiences and give us some valuable tips. Tuesday morning: 9:30 – 11:15am March 10, 2015 MINDFUL PARENTING: How can we be present and available for our children while staying connected to our smart phones and computers? Come learn how modern technology is affecting our parenting and what we can do to keep the connection with our children strong. Tuesday morning: 9:30-11:15am March 17, 2015 COOKING ON A BUDGET: Parents are welcome to join us for a demonstration of cooking on a budget. Tuesday afternoon: 1:30 – 3:15pm March 3, 2015 COOKING KID FRIENDLY LUNCHES: Parents are welcome to join us to learn more about making nutrition and child friendly lunches. Tuesday afternoon: 1:30 – 3:15am March 10, 2015 SUPPORT GROUPS COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS: This support group is for families who have immigrated to Canada and who want to form new and supportive peer relationships. Come join us in a warm, caring and supportive environment, where you will gain knowledge about parenting in Canada, share parenting ideas and learn about your community. LDAM: Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba - Our Centre partners with LDAM to offer parent information evenings with guest speakers and a time for sharing. Thursday evenings: 7:00 - 9:00pm January 5, January 29, February 12, February 26, March 12 & March 26, 2015 TALKING, LEARNING, CARING: A series of eight sessions that parents are welcome to join at any time. If you are experiencing a crisis in your family life or if you have become involved in child welfare services this course will provide you with some practical information. This is NOT a parenting course but certainly can be an introduction to other programs offered by the Centre. You will receive informative handouts about parenting. There will also be time for discussion and mutual support between group members. Tuesday mornings: 9:30 – 11:00am PARENT-CHILD PROGRAMS MOTHERS & SONS (Ages 9-12 yrs): This is a 6 week program providing mothers and sons an opportunity to spend time together having fun and learning new skills that will positively impact their relationship. Monday evenings: 6:00 – 8:00pm January 13 – February 17, 2015 VALENTINES CRAFT: Wear something red or pink in celebration of sharing, giving, love and friendship. Parents and children ages 3-5 are welcome to join in a fun afternoon of crafting and snacks. Friday Afternoon: 1:30 – 3:15pm February 13, 2015 TOT TIME TOGETHER: Join us for a fun filled afternoon with music, snack and toddler friendly crafts. This parent child activity is for children who are 2-3 years old. Child care is available for children under 2 years and also for 4 & 5 year olds. Friday Afternoon: 1:30 – 3:15pm March 24, 2015 FAMILY LITERACY PROGRAMS DROP-IN PLAYTIME: An opportunity for parents and preschool children to play together in the child care room. A staff is available to assist you, but parents are responsible for supervising their own children. Snack, Circle Time and Crafts provided. st rd nd th Families can come twice a month – either the 1 and 3 Friday of each month or the 2 and 4 Friday of each month. Join any time. Friday mornings: 9:30 – 11:15am January 9 – March 27, 2015 FAMILY CIRCLE (A Parent Child Mother Goose Program): Parents, babies and children under the age of 2 join together in a circle to enjoy action rhymes, songs and stories. There are two sessions held on Wednesday mornings. We will try to accommodate requests for time of session but we need to ensure that the groups are divided equally. Please register if you plan on attending the upcoming 9 week session. NOTE: There will be a $5 registration fee per family to attend.
