Holiday Break
Principal: Mrs. K. Kosh
Superintendent: Kelly Pisek
December 2014
Wow! We have a very exciting month coming up! December always
promises to bring special days, happy memories and excitement in
the school and this year is no exception. We have a number of Spirit
Days, special presentations and guests in the school throughout the
month, all with the purpose of providing students with memorable
learning experiences.
We would like to thank you for your support throughout the beginning of this school year. It was great to see so many parents join us
for Parent Teacher Interviews to make sure that the communication
between home and school is open and active. We know that this
year has brought some new routines we appreciate your understanding and your flexibility as we all learn together.
There was a common theme at the Parent Teacher Interviews and
that was "How can I help my child become a better reader?" Inside
this month's newsletter, you will see two pages full of tips and suggestions for you to use at home. Please take a moment to browse
through them, try some out and even add your own to the list! Students will only become lifelong learners if they see that it is something their parents value.
I wish you the very best throughout the month and as you spend the
Winter Break with your families, I encourage you to make many happy memories together.
Have a fantastic Holiday Season,
Mrs. Kristen Kosh

Sooner or later winter weather will be here.
Please make sure that your child comes to
school dressed appropriately for colder winter weather. They should have a
scarf, hat, mittens and a warm

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT
INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES
There may be times during the school year where inclement weather or other situations could cause transportation cancellations or school closures. At times when student transportation has been cancelled and schools remain
open, the decision of whether or not to have children in school on that day rests with the parent or guardian.
Should you decide not to send your child to school in the event that transportation is cancelled but schools
remain open, or if your child is ill or late, please ensure that you call your child’s school to inform them of
your child’s absence.
A key resource in any emergency is the DSBN Emergency Information form that you filled out at the beginning of
the school year. Please let the school know of any changes in contact information or procedures you wish to be
followed throughout the school year.
Information about transportation cancellations and school closures will be available as soon as it is available
