Cherry Hill has a wonderful sprung hardwood dance floor, easy access, and ample parking. Late March is a beautiful time in the Washington, DC area (we hope the cherry blossoms will be in bloom!) and our guest teacher and musicians promise to make this a very special weekend. We begin with our Welcome Dance on Friday night. On Saturday we offer a general dance class taught by our guest teacher. A catered lunch that offers a great opportunity to socialize will be followed by a Ball Review in the afternoon. And, of course, we finish Saturday with our Capital Ball. On Sunday all are invited to a potluck brunch hosted by John and Joan MacLeod. On Sunday afternoon please join us for a special class taught by our guest teacher to complete our weekend! The Teacher We are delighted to have David Queen from Lancashire, England as our invited dance teacher. David comes from a very musical family and started dancing at the age of 5 under the tutelage of both his Mother and Father. His Mother was a piano teacher and his Father a piper and dance teacher who is best known for devising the dance Angus MacLeod. David qualified as a teacher in 1993 and has inspired a love of music and dance in others since then. David has taught regular branch classes in the north of England, workshops around the world, and at RSCDS schools in St. Andrews, Pitlochry, New Zealand, and TAC. He has received invitations to teach in Russia, the USA, Canada, and across Europe. He is a dance devisor and composer of Scottish music and has published his own book of dances as well as providing dances for other publications. His music has been recorded by his band, Scottish Measure, where David plays the fiddle and by other bands as well. David’s “day time job” is a building services engineer where he is able to travel the world. David enjoys promoting good Scottish country dancing technique while ensuring that everyone is having fun!
