Girl Scout Cookies: More Than Just a Tasty Treat
On Sale January 22 Through February 15, 2015
Jupiter, FL; January 6, 2015 – When are cookies more than just a tasty treat? When they are Girl
Scout Cookies! From January 22nd through February 15th, the simple purchase of Thin Mints, Samoas
or any one of the eight delicious varieties provides an important ingredient for leadership by helping
Girl Scouts across South Florida develop five key skills: Goal Setting, Decision Making, Money
Management, People Skills and Business Ethics.
For the first time since 2012, there are two new cookie varieties this year. Customers will give a
cheer when they taste the whole grain oats, plump raisins and Greek-yogurt flavored chips in Rah
Rah Raisins. And those customers that might normally have to pass on Girl Scout cookies due to
celiac disease will be thrilled to try the gluten-free Toffee-Tastic, a crispy, buttery cookie with
delicious toffee bits.
Not to be left out, the Samoa has something to shout about. This year we celebrate Samoa turning
40. The irresistible combination of caramel, coconut and chocolate still makes her one of top three
favorite varieties of Girl Scout cookies. Look for party hats in her signature purple color as we
celebrate 40 years of deliciousness through the Cookie Sale season.
The $700 million Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program is the largest girl-led business in the country and
generates immeasurable benefits for girls, their councils and communities nationwide. Locally, Girl
Scouts will strive to reach a goal of selling 1.5 million boxes. Last year more than 8,400 girls honed
their sales pitch and earned more than $960,000 for their troops. One hundred and thirty-two girls
achieved Extreme Team status which means they sold more than 1,000 boxes of cookies!
This year for the first time, the girls have another way to reach their cookie selling goal. Digital
Cookie, a groundbreaking new addition to the Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program, is a safe, interactive
space for girls to sell cookies online. It allows them the opportunity to supplement their traditional
sale by reaching out and selling to family and friends all over the country. Marking the first digital
platform in the history of the iconic cookie program, this enhancement adds a digital layer that
expands and strengthens the essential five skills girls learn in the traditional cookie program. Digital
Cookie will introduce vital 21st century lessons about online marketing, application use, and ecommerce to thousands of Girl Scouts in South Florida.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria Offers Girl Scout Cookie Cheesecakes During the Month of February
Thin Mint Cheesecake and Samoa Cheesecake to benefit Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida
Palm Beach Gardens, FL; January 6, 2015 – Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, famous for its award-winning,
hand-tossed, coal-fired, brick oven pizzas and calzones, is pleased to announce its second year
of partnership with Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida. To celebrate the Girl Scout Cookie season
in South Florida, Grimaldi’s will again offer the Thin Mint Cheesecake along with the Samoa
Cheesecake. The Thin Mint Cheesecake is a chocolate mint cheesecake with pieces of Thin Mint
cookie mixed in, a Thin Mint crust and topped with whipped cream. The Samoa Cheesecake is a
caramel cheesecake topped with caramel glaze and toasted coconut, on top of a Samoa cookie
crust and finished with a chocolate drizzle and whipped cream. These special cheesecakes will
be available at the Downtown at the Gardens Grimaldi’s location for $5 a slice while supplies
last. All proceeds from the sale of the two Girl Scout cookie-flavored cheesecakes will be
donated to Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida.
“We are pleased to partner with Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida again this year,” said Cory
Lattuca, food & beverage director/corporate chef for Grimaldi’s. “With the addition of the
Samoa Cheesecake along with the iconic Thin Mint Cheesecake, we invite the community to
taste these cheesecakes extraordinaire, where every delicious bite benefits girls in Southeast
Florida.”
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria will offer the cheesecakes during the month of February, while supplies last,
and will celebrate the Cookie Program - the largest girl-led financial literacy program in the
country. As one of five key Girl Scout initiatives, Financial Literacy, the program teaches girls
goal-setting, decision making, money management, and business ethics.
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria will continue to offer its traditional dessert menu for guests to choose from
which includes: Tiramisu, Housemade Cheesecakes—New York Style or Oreo Cookie—priced at
$5 each and Grimaldi’s Famous Cannoli for $4.50.

the Girl Scout Leadership Experience that will help her develop skills and create a strong
foundation for future success. Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida, a United Way of Martin County
partner agency, serves more than 12,000 girls in Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian
River and Okeechobee Counties. To explore opportunities to volunteer or partner with Girl
Scouts, call 866-727-4475 or visit www.gssef.org.
About Grimaldi’s Pizzeria:
In the world of pizza, Grimaldi’s is an institution that has garnered more awards than any other
pizzeria in the country with more celebrity sightings than most 5-star restaurants. Using only
the freshest ingredients, a “secret recipe” pizza sauce, handmade mozzarella cheese and
dough, Grimaldi’s serves traditional pizza (as it began in Naples, Italy) in an upscale yet casual,
family oriented pizzeria. The intense heat of the oven evenly bakes the pies to create Grimaldi’s
famous crispy and smoky thin crust that Zagat has voted best pizza year after year.
