2. Dylan French - 2014 Youth
Olympic Games Canadian Team
Flag Bearer
Dylan and Victor were at the 2014
Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing
China. Dylan got the honour as the
first ever Canadian Fencer to carry
our countries flag into the opening
ceremonies at the 2014 Youth
Olympic Games. This was a very
special moment for the French
Family, the entire Canadian Fencing
community and of course our club.
3. 2014 Victor Gantsevich International Fencing
Grand Prix
In 2014 the Canadian Fencing Federation and the
Grand Prix Organizing Committee honoured the
work that Victor Gantsevich has done for fencing in
Canada and British Columbia since immigrating in
1996 with the naming of the 2014 Vancouver Grand
Prix the Victor Gantsevich Grand Prix. We thank the
Canadian Fencing Federation for the great honour.
This was not only a Gantsevich honour but an
honour for the entire Dynamo Fencing Family.

4. Outreach Fencing Programs
With the partnership and support of B.C. Fencing and through the efforts of Igor
Gantsevich’s school programs we were able to introduce fencing to over 10 000 Youth.
We have now successfully opened over 10 in school fencing teams on average with
20 kids per team. 5. West Vancouver Premier Fencing
Academy
With the success of our in school
introductory programs we were able to
partner with the West Vancouver
School District (SD45) and launch
Canada’s only in school fencing
academy. We currently have 11 full
time athletes training and studying in
the academy in West Vancouver. Next
year we are anticipating over 20
athletes and the program will be daily
and will give students 2 full high school
equivalent course credits. http://

6. Coaching Staff

work all of the coaches are doing and we thank them for all of their hard efforts in getting us closer
to our goals. Welcome to the Dynamo Family:

7. Summer 2014 ALS Bucket Challenge
This past summer was a very eventful
summer highlighted with Dylan and
Victor participating at the Youth
Olympics Games. At home with the
support of BC Fencing we were able
to bring the 2014 European Champion
and 2013 World Team Champion from
Hungary - Andras Redli, for our 2014
HP Summer Camp. Andras worked
with our athletes for 2 weeks and took
part in the ALS bucket challenge on
top of Grouse Mountain. The ALS
Bucket Challenge was a great club
bonding event which all of our athletes
climbed up the Grouse Grind with a
bucket and their fencing whites; on top
of Grouse we all gathered and had ice
dumped all over us in our fencing
gear.
The video went viral in the fencing
world with almost 40 000 views and
over 100 shares on Facebook. It can
still be seen our our club Facebook
Page.

8. New Facility
2014 was a record year in regards to the number of full time and recreational members
Dynamo has ever had. As a result we have been actively seeking for a new home for our
club. We are very proud to announce that Dynamo Fencing has successfully acquired a
14 000 square foot building which will be opening in late Summer 2015.

Conclusion
2014 will be remembered as a very memorable year starting from the historic medals
that were won on the International level to the ground breaking programs which were
started. Regardless of how big our club gets, Dynamo prides itself by being a
community that builds lasting friendships and excellent young adults; we feel that 2014
bonded our club more than ever before. From supporting each one and other, loud
and proud at competitions to club functions and events, all of our members bonded
and supported each other in 2014.
Success in 2014 could not have been achieved without the support of our club
parents. A special Thank You to the families that helped out and volunteered their free
time to support the Dynamo Fencing Family:
Callaghan Family, French Family, Kaardal Family, Kis-Toth Family, Sings Family,
Bakonyi Family, Wong Family
Dynamo Fencing is looking forward to 2015 as the beginning of a new chapter of our
Fencing Club. We are looking forward on growing on the success of 2014.
Once again thank you for everything in 2014 and congratulations to each and
everyone of the Dynamo Family!
One For All and All For One!
Best Regards,
Igor Gantsevich
