Outreach Fencing Programs With the partnership and support of B.C. Fencing and through the efforts of Igor Gantsevich’s school programs we were able to introduce fencing to over 10 000 Youth. We have now successfully opened over 10 in school fencing teams on average with 20 kids per team. 5. West Vancouver Premier Fencing Academy With the success of our in school introductory programs we were able to partner with the West Vancouver School District (SD45) and launch Canada’s only in school fencing academy. We currently have 11 full time athletes training and studying in the academy in West Vancouver. Next year we are anticipating over 20 athletes and the program will be daily and will give students 2 full high school equivalent course credits. http:// www.sd45.bc.ca/ps/fencing-academy/ index.html Page 5 of 8 6. Coaching Staff 2014 was a year which we had 3 new full time coaches join our team. Summer 2014 ALS Bucket Challenge This past summer was a very eventful summer highlighted with Dylan and Victor participating at the Youth Olympics Games. At home with the support of BC Fencing we were able to bring the 2014 European Champion and 2013 World Team Champion from Hungary - Andras Redli, for our 2014 HP Summer Camp. Andras worked with our athletes for 2 weeks and took part in the ALS bucket challenge on top of Grouse Mountain. The ALS Bucket Challenge was a great club bonding event which all of our athletes climbed up the Grouse Grind with a bucket and their fencing whites; on top of Grouse we all gathered and had ice dumped all over us in our fencing gear. The video went viral in the fencing world with almost 40 000 views and over 100 shares on Facebook. It can still be seen our our club Facebook Page. Page 6 of 8 8. Regardless of how big our club gets, Dynamo prides itself by being a community that builds lasting friendships and excellent young adults; we feel that 2014 bonded our club more than ever before. From supporting each one and other, loud and proud at competitions to club functions and events, all of our members bonded and supported each other in 2014. Success in 2014 could not have been achieved without the support of our club parents.
