2015 Oregon MHM Classic General Tournament and Facility Rules No Food of any kind allowed outside of designated eating area. The no-food policy for the Moshofsky Center requires that all food be consumed only on tiled areas inside of the team camping area. No Food of any kind is allowed around the court area. NO FOOD is allowed on areas that have exposed turf!!! Penalty for breaking the no food rule is 13 points for first offense, 1 game for second offense; third infraction carries a penalty of running the stadium stairs, 1,000 push-ups, possible incarceration by University of Oregon Public Safety, etc. Cheer with respect We expect everyone to respect their opponents, the officials, and the tournament directors. Most of the people working the tournament are volunteering their time. We will not tolerate any rude behavior by players, parents, coaches, etc., especially anything directed at young players officiating. We will have paid officials for the R1 position and volunteer coaches and players will complete the rest of the officiating team. Please keep your fans under control. Any team that cannot control themselves or their fans will be removed from the tournament. Keep facilities clean Please use your best efforts to keep the facilities and equipment clean, especially the bathrooms and the areas where the teams will be eating and resting. If you spill something, please clean it up right away. If you really spill something, please let somebody know so we can get it cleaned up right away. These facilities are very difficult to secure for volleyball tournaments and we are fortunate to have the opportunity to be here. With your help, we will be asked to return here next year. Thanks in advance for your help to keep things clean. Tournament Flow and Assignment Questions This year’s tournament will all be posted to and run through Real Time Results. If you have any questions about where you play or ref next please consult www.gamepointrtr.com first!!! Almost all questions will be answered by consulting this. If you still have questions please consult the Tournament Desk. Emergency Procedures If you encounter an emergency of any nature, please contact any of the tournament staff as soon as possible. If appropriate, call 911. Have fun! Yes, this is a rule also. We all love to compete and want to win. Please try and keep it in perspective however. We are playing a game. It is supposed to be fun. Rules of Play/Seeding/Tie-breaking Match Format USA Volleyball® rules will apply to all match play. The match format will be 2/3 sets, rally score to 25. You must win by 2, NO CAP. Deciding sets will be rally score to 15, win by 2, NO CAP. In the event we have a 3-team pool, you will play 3-set matches with each set going to 25, no cap. You must win by 2 points. If possible we will have crossover matches between any 3-team pools and will run the same 2/3 set schedule as those teams in 4-team pools. The three choices at the coin toss will be either: serve, receive, or side. Libero Serve Rule The Columbia Empire region allows the Libero to serve for one player position. We will allow the Libero Serve Rule at our tournament. You don’t have to use it, but you can! Results All results will be updated to www.gamepointrtr.com under the current tournament tab and the latest results from every pool will be posted at the conclusion of EACH MATCH! Schedule Each match is scheduled to start on the hour. Teams will be allowed 2 minutes of shared warm-up time, and then 4 minutes each on the court (24-4), you must serve within your four minutes of court time. There will be no shared hitting. Forfeit Matches will be played as much as 15 minutes ahead of schedule if possible. A forfeit will occur 10 minutes following the conclusion of the previous match, regardless of what time the match is scheduled, as long as it is no more than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time during pool play. Set 2 will be forfeited 15 minutes following the forfeit of set 1. Decisions on forfeits made by the Protest Committee are final. Officiating Teams are responsible to provide an R2, scorekeeper, score flipper/libero tracker, and 2 line judges. Paid R1 officials are provided. Any teams that do not show up for their officiating assignments will be assessed a penalty of 1 point for each minute they are late, to a maximum of 15 points for the first infraction and 25 points for their 2nd infraction. These penalties will be assessed at the team’s next match. In the event a team cannot fulfill their officiating responsibilities and must be replaced, the team will be charged $30.00 for another team to fill in for them. This includes the final round of the day, so if you have any doubts whatsoever about your next assignment; please check out with the Tournament Desk before allowing your teams to leave the tournament site at the end of each session. Protest Procedure If a protest is to be filed, it must be filed at the time of the incident, before the next serve. Only the floor captain may file a protest. The protest must be written on the score sheet by the scorekeeper or R1 official and must be signed by both the floor captain and the referee. A protest committee will consist of the tournament director, and two uninvolved officials. The protest must be ruled upon before the set can continue. A protest cannot be filed after the match. Judgment calls of any official cannot be protested. Seeding Seeding for the tournament was based on regional seeding’s and interregional tournament results with emphasis on the most recent results available. In order to provide predictability in the tournament a team’s finish position within each pool will determine the seed and where each team progresses. If you have any question whatsoever regarding your next playing or ref assignments, please consult the tournament desk. Tie Breaking Procedures At the conclusion of a pool, teams will be ranked according to their match record. If a tie in a match record exists between two or more teams, the tie(s) will be broken using the following Tie Break Formats. There will be NO tie breaking sets (games) under any scenario. We simply do not have any extra court space or time allotted for tie-breaking sets. TWO WAY TIES (two teams tied in match record) The number 1 team will be the team which won the pool play match between the two tied teams (head to head). This procedure will be used for all two-way ties (the rationale is: the teams that are tied have already determined the better team through play). THREE WAY TIES (three teams tied in match record) Any three-way ties will be broken using the following criteria: 1. Pool match record 2. Set percentage (sets won/total sets played) 3. Point percentage (points scored/points opponents scored) 4. Coin toss Tournament Information Team Break Areas At the Moshofsky Center, teams may set-up break areas in the open area on the the Mo Center. There is no team ‘camping’ allowed in the designated eating area. This area is for eating only, teams that set-up shop here will be asked to move! Teams ARE allowed to set-up tents and camping areas outside in Wildish Plaza for their coolers and food if they choose to. While we do have security that makes rounds through the facility, please take any valuable items with your team into the playing courts rather than leaving them unattended in your team break area. If you have a player that needs to be taped, you should get her or him to the trainer station early enough to allow for a wait during the rush before each wave starts. Players are required to provide their own supplies if they need taping or other assistance. Ice will be available in the event of injury if necessary.
