Dorsey will succeed Founder and Executive Director Bob Hennessy, who is retiring after 27 years. “Replacing Bob Hennessy, the Founder and face of the organization for so many years, was a very challenging task. After a nationwide search, finding someone of Dorsey Moore’s qualifications was phenomenal,” stated Board of Directors President Tim Quigley. “Perhaps it is not by chance - Many of our talented staff have come up through our own ranks, and that Dorsey Moore was hired, inspired, promoted and mentored by Bob Hennessy from 1993 – 2005, is a perfect example of how great leaders of one generation prepare their successors to carry on their legacy," Quigley added. Dorsey served as Environmental Projects Director, Recycling Director and finally as Deputy Director of Operations during that timeframe. Notably during this time and determined to better communicate with Vietnamese San Jose corps members, Dorsey studied Vietnamese and made five trips to Vietnam to hone his language skills. Bob Hennessy summed up Dorsey’s previous work at SJCC&CS by saying, “Dorsey has 12 years of experience of working with the Corps. He is a quick learner and is very knowledgeable of all aspects of our program. Many on our staff know and respect him, which will make a very smooth transition. We welcome him back with open arms and know that he’s ready to take the Corps to the next level.” Dorsey holds a BA Degree in Geography/Geology with a minor in Biology at Denison University (Ohio), an MDE (Management Development Entrepreneurship) Certificate from UCLA Anderson School of Management, and an MBA degree in Sustainable Management from the Presidio School of Management. He also holds a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from San Jose State University. Continued on next page Senter Rd. Dorsey’s entrepreneurial drive guided him to found and operate the Sustainability for All, LLC Consulting Firm that has developed the Recycle iQ System, a cloudbased recycling enterprise management software. Sustainability for All has worked closely with the California Conservation Corps as well as the network of independent Corps organizations, becoming a major resource to the statewide Conservation Corps movement. Dorsey believes, “Everything I have done at and after the San Jose Conservation Corps & Charter School has prepared me for the challenge of continuing and building on Bob Hennessy’s legacy.
