PHOSPHORUS IN AGRICULTURE: WHERE ARE WE GOING?

SCOPE
The Group of Plant Nutrition (ETHZ) invites to a symposium with national and
international experts presenting current trends and challenges of phosphorus
research. The symposium will address the actual knowledge and issues regarding
phosphorus (P) use in agriculture in Switzerland and in Europe. Speakers will talk
about P resources, P cycles and P losses in agro-ecosystems. The latest trends in P
fertilizer development will be presented including the contaminants and the resulting
legal framework required. Furthermore, the opportunities and challenges of P
recycling will be explored. The symposium will be complemented by a visit at the
Landor company, an important P importer in Switzerland. Finally, the outcomes of
the symposium will be summarized in a roundtable discussion.
