Week 6
‘Blind’ Faith
Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his
disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving
the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus, was
sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that
it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus,
Son of David, have mercy on me!" Many rebuked him
and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the
more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!".
(Mark 10:46-48)
I have known several people over the years that have had failing eyesight. I think
the prospect of one day being blind would be quite frightening. It would impact your
life in so many ways.
Blind Bartimaeus must have felt frustrated to the point of being desperate. It seems
his blindness had made him an outcast and a beggar. As Bartimaeus begs by the
roadside, he hears that Jesus is coming, and he shouts, “Jesus! Son of David! Have
mercy on me!”. Although physically blind, Bartimaeus recognises Jesus as the
promised Messiah (the King and Saviour) the 'Son of David', and despite the
rebuking of the crowd he continues to call on Jesus as he passes by.
Jesus heard the cry of Bartimaeus. He hears us too. Don't let the disapproval of
others stop you from coming to him with your requests. Remember Bartimaeus. We
can all trust that Jesus' heart will be full of mercy and that He will help us in our time
of need.
Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me and help me. Keep me strong in the faith –
strongly connected to you – and resting in the knowledge that you will see me
through, no matter what! Amen.

Term 4
Congratulations!
We are delighted to hear about our students and their achievements here at
college and also within our community.
Last Friday I attended the opening of the TOP Art Exhibition at the Hamilton Art
Gallery. TOP ART is selected art works from VCE art students within the
Hamilton and surrounding secondary schools. Emma Rentsch had one of her
large pieces on display. Amie Menzel had a number of her works and also her
portfolio on display. If you go into the Hamilton CBD, go and view these works.
Hayley Simons won first prize for her photo she displayed at the Mosaic
Dunkeld weekend.
On Tuesday at Hamilton’s Remembrance Day march and service, Callum
Mirtschin made his first appearance as the snare drummer for the Hamilton Pipe
Band.
We are very proud of the talents of our students and also their participation in
the Hamilton wider community.

Sports Report
Last Friday and Monday nights was our final game of basketball for the year. It has
been a year that has seen great development in our players and coaches. I will remind
all players that they must return their basketball uniforms to school asap. Thank you to
everyone involved that made a contribution to the Basketball program this year. On a
disappointing note there are still a few families that have not paid their registration
fees. It is an onerous task to chase up these payments for staff. If you have not paid
please contact the office to arrange payment immediately.
Vicswim will be running week long intensive swimming programs during January 2015
at HILAC and Hamilton Olympic Pool. There will also be programs running in pools in
surrounding towns of Coleraine, Dunkeld and Macarthur. The cost will be $25, which
represents excellent value. Go online to www.vicswim.com.au for dates and details.
There is also a flyer available from the front office at the Junior Campus.
Kristen Brant represented GSC at the Western District Interschool event at
Hamilton College on Sunday the 9th November. This was Kristen’s first equestrian event
and she produced some fantastic results. She came 1st in Handymount, 3rd in Rider
Class and 5th overall. A great effort Kristen!!
Josh Read is heading off to Albury this Friday for the Zone Challenge. Josh will be
representing the South West U/15 team against teams from all over Victoria. Good
Luck Josh!

Cliff came to GSECS with his tractor
today!
It was loud , and great fun to watch. All
the children watched from the sand pit
as Cliff drove the tractor, pushing a
HUGE tyre into our playground.
We watched Cliff with the tractor fill
it with dirt. It needed 4 scoops to fill it
to the top!
Now we have a new area in our
playground!
The children enjoyed testing out the
new play space, and really enjoyed
jumping off the HUGE tyre.
There was lots of estimating, counting,
climbing, and laughing by everyone!!
