He is widely respected for his practical knowledge and experience developed as a result of his
relationships with leading dental professionals and experts in the field of infection control,
with particular knowledge on the processing of transmission instruments. He also represents
the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) with Standards Australia when they develop
standards for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilising reusable medical and surgical instruments
and equipment.
Dr Shailesh Kottal –
Clinical Assistant Professor, New York University (USA)
Trained at the University of Missouri, Dr Kottal is an internationally renowned oral and
maxillofacial radiologist who serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the College of Dentistry,
New York University and operates all the advanced imaging services. Well-published and
a widely respected international speaker on different topics associated with 3D imaging,
he actively participates in research and is currently involved in numerous research projects
across the globe. He has served on consulting boards for various CBCT manufacturers and has
extensive knowledge on the systems available in the market.
Assoc. Prof. Dan Brener –
Director, Brener Implant Institute
Founder and Director of Brener Implant Institute, Professor Brener graduated in dentistry from
Sydney University in 1983 and in the process was awarded the Port Dental Prize as well as
prizes for restorative and prosthetic dentistry. He went on to earn a Master of Dental Science
in Prosthodontics at the University of Sydney in 1987. A registered prosthodontist, Professor
Brener currently holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry at
the University of Sydney.
Dr Stuart Deane –
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Macquarie Oral and Maxillofacial Specialists
Dr Deane is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who gained honours degrees in both Medicine
and Dentistry at the University of Sydney. He began his career as a dentist in rural Victoria
before commencing specialist training at the Westmead and John Hunter hospitals. During his
training, he gained experience in a wide range of complex maxillofacial procedures including
orthognathic surgery, major trauma and oncological surgery of the head and neck. His areas
of interest are orthognathic surgery, implants, dentoalveolar surgery and oral pathology. Dr
Deane is involved in teaching of specialist registrars, both practically and didactically, and
enjoys the opportunity of helping students to develop confidence and skills in their chosen
profession.

Dr Ray Te Mo –
Specialist Orthodontist, Supersmile Orthodontics
The current vice-president of the Australian Society of Orthodontics (NSW branch), Dr Te Mo
obtained his undergraduate dental degree at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand
and returned to complete his specialist training in Orthodontics. Currently practicing in the
nation’s capital, Dr Te Mo is an honorary associate in the Department of Orthodontics at the
University of Sydney.
Dr Biju Krishnan –
Clinical Director, Lubiju (UK)
Dr Krishnan qualified from Dundee University, Scotland in 1993 and following several years in
general practice completed a clinical attachment in oral surgery in 1999. With an international
reputation for excellence, Dr Krishnan’s accolades include being highly commended as Best
Specialist Practice in Scotland and voted best private practice in East Scotland. Dr Krishnan has
published and lectured nationally and internationally primarily on short term adult orthodontics,
in which he has pioneered new concepts using the CFAST cosmetically focused adult straight teeth
system which he personally developed. He is also on the editorial board of Aesthetic Dentistry Today
and the British Academy of Restorative Dentistry and founded the charity, A Smile For Change.
Dr Anthony Viazis –
Orthodontist, Fastbraces (USA)
The founder of Fastbraces, Dr Viazis has more than twenty years’ experience and has
received one of orthodontics’ top honours - a Diplomate of the American Board of
Orthodontics. While he devotes plenty of time to his patients, he has also spent plenty of
time teaching the next generation of orthodontists. Throughout his career, he has been a
member of the faculty at the University of Minnesota, Baylor College of Dentistry and
the University of Southern California, and has given countless lectures around the world.
Dr Viazis is also a successful author, having published two books and a number of scientific
articles.
Prof. Ali Darendeliler –
Chair of Orthodontics, The University of Sydney
Chair of Orthodontics at the University of Sydney, Professor Darendeliler received his dentistry
training from the University of Istanbul and his doctrate from the University of Gazi, in Turkey.
His first specialist training in orthodontics was from the University of Geneva, Switzerland
and his second specialist training from the High Education Council, Turkey. During the course
of his career he has undertaken duties as a clinical instructor, research and postgraduate
coordinator at the University of Geneva, Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina
and Research Professor at the University of Southern California. His research interests include
orthodontic tooth movement, root resorption, obstructive sleep apnoea, temporary anchorage
devices, sequential aligners, selfligating brackets, orthopaedic treatment modalities, magnetic
fields and forces and dentofacial orthopaedics.

Ms Levitch established Levitch Design Australia in 1988 after being offered a number of
commissions in the retail, healthcare, and commercial sectors, Anne holds a degree in industrial
design. This is augmented by extensive experience operating a graphic design consultancy
which supported the establishment of a multi-disciplinary design practice. Ms Levitch has

Prof. Claus Udo Fritzemeier –
Specialist Consultant (EU)
Professor Fritzemeier began his career as a physician’s assistant in the Clinic for Plastic and
Maxillo Facial Surgery at the University of Hamburg. In 1980 he became a Senior Physician at
the Clinic for Plastic and Maxillo Facial Surgery at the University of Dusseldorf with emphasis
in tumour surgery, trauma, plastic and reconstructive surgery, aesthetic surgery and dental
implantology. Professor Fritzemeier has also presented on various congresses as well on
advanced training courses. At 65, he is retired but continues working at large practices and
hospitals in facial surgery with emphasis on dental implantology and surgical activities.
Dr Peter Mansour –
Director, Bella Dental Care
A Sydney-based dentist who has a passion for minimally invasive cosmetic and implant
dentistry, Dr Mansour completed his dental degree with honours at the University of Sydney.
He has held an appointment as Maxillofacial Senior House Officer at the Prince Charles Hospital
United Kingdom. In 2008, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental
Surgeons. Dr Mansour has been practicing dentistry for over fourteen years, including time
practicing head and neck surgery in the UK. He is currently completing a Masters Degree in
Prosthodontics with the Kings College of London.
Ms Susan Wingrove –
Writer Consultant Educator, Wingrove Dynamics (USA)
A clinical dental hygienist held in high regard internationally, Ms Wingrove is also a researcher
for Regena Therapeutic and an instrument design consultant for Paradise Dental Technologies,
designer of the Wingrove Titanium Implant Set, ACE probes, and Queen of Hearts instruments.
She is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Hygienist’s Association,
and the International Federation of Dental Hygienists. Ms Wingrove has also written many
journal articles on implant therapy, regeneration, and advanced instrumentation and textbook
for Wiley-Blackwell publishers; Peri-Implant Therapy for the Dental Hygienist: A clinical
guide to Maintenance and Disease Complications.
Dr Thomas Giblin –
Manager, Northern Dental Specialties
Dr Giblin attained his Bachelor of Dentistry with Honours from Sydney University. After two
and a half years in private practice, he was accepted into the Graduate Prosthodontics program
at the University of Texas Health Science Centre at San Antonio, one of the top programs in the
United States. He has presented table clinics at the American College of Prosthodontists and the
American Equilibration Society. Dr Giblin is also a member of multiple national and international
dental societies and organisations. He has many area of interest including reconstructive dentistry,
aesthetic diagnosis and treatment, occlusion, TMD and sleep dentistry.
Ms Susan Wingrove –

A dental hygienist who has trained, practised and taught in America, Ms Watson participated in
the introduction of the first school of dental hygiene in New Zealand in 1994. She has served
on the faculty of the Otago School of Dentistry, the Otago Polytechnic and has been a senior
lecturer for the undergraduate oral health program at the Auckland University of Technology. A former President of the New Zealand Dental Hygienists Association, Ms Watson is currently
President Elect to the International Federation of Dental Hygienists having previously chaired
that organisation’s education committee.
Ms Stacey Bracksley –
Teaching Fellow, La Trobe Rural Health School
Ms Bracksley holds a Bachelor of Oral Health Science, Graduate Diploma in Public and Community
Health and Honours in Public Health. She teaches across of variety of undergraduate subjects
in public health and oral health. Ms Bracksley is currently enrolled part-time in a PhD focusing
on health promotion training within dental and oral health degrees.
Dr Joerg Strate –
Head of Global Clinical Affairs, Philips Oral Healthcare (USA)
Dr Strate brings over twenty years of experience in both clinical dentistry and the management
of clinical research and academic relations. Most recently, he has been responsible for the
scientific and clinical research strategy of Philips Oral Healthcare. His work has contributed to
the strong clinical research and development that have helped Sonicare claim leading market
positions in Europe and Japan and continue its rapid growth in the US and other leading
markets. Dr Strate is author and co-author of numerous scientific papers and abstracts and has
lectured globally on implant dentistry and oral health. He received his dental and postgraduate
training as a periodontist in Muenter, Germany.
Assoc. Prof. Camile Farah –
Oral Oncology Research Program Head, The University of Queensland
A registered specialist in oral medicine and oral pathology, Professor Farah has interests
in clinical oral medicine (mucosal pathology, salivary gland diseases, orofacial pain), diagnostic
head and neck pathology (oral cancer and precancer), and oral and maxillofacial radiology. He
maintains a private practice in oral medicine, is a consultant oral pathologist to Q-scan Radiology
Clinics, and Head of the Oral Oncology Research Program at the University of Queensland Centre
for Clinical Research, where he undertakes clinical and translational research into head and neck
cancer early detection, molecular diagnostics, and imaging. Professor Farah has published over
ninety clinical and scientific articles including five book chapters, and has attracted approximately
$5 million in competitive research funding.
Dr Sarah Raphael –
Scientific Affairs Consultant, Colgate Oral Care
A specialist paediatric dentist who has been involved in many facets of the Australian dental
profession, Dr Raphael’s experiences include working with the University of Sydney, the
Australia Dental Association (NSW) Centre for Professional Development and the Australia
and New Zealand Society for Paediatric Dentistry (ANZSPD). She is currently a consultant to
Colgate Oral Care in the area of scientific affairs.

During completion of his MDSc in Prosthodontics from University of Sydney, Dr Lee was given the
Young Prosthodontist Award by The International College of Prosthodontists. He is the current
president of Australian Prosthodontic Society NSW Branch and Australian Asian Association of
Dentists. In addition to being a visiting honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney, Dr Lee
frequently presents on the topic of dental implants and fixed prosthodontics.
Dr Lisa Studdert –
Head of Market Authorisation, Therapeutic Goods Administration
As the Head of the Market Authorisation Group, Dr Studdert manages TGA’s premarket activities
in complementary, OTC and prescription medicines, medical devices and biologicals. Before joining
the TGA, she was the Deputy CEO of the Australian National Preventative Health Agency. Her earlier
career includes a mix of senior level policy development, program delivery and health sector
related leadership roles as CEO of the Remote Area Health Corps, senior executive health roles with
the Asian Development Bank and she was a former Adviser to a Federal Minister for Health and
Ageing. Dr Studdert has a PhD from Cornell University amongst other postgraduate management
qualifications.
Dr Derek Mahony –
Specialist Orthodontist, Full Face Orthodontics
Sydney-based orthodontist Dr Mahoney earned his degree from the University of Sydney. He has
lectured on the positive impact of a fixed and functional appliance treatment approach has on
orthodontic results and the benefits this philosophy provides in reducing teeth extractions. Dr Mahony
has been a key note speaker at the International Orthodontic Summit, the International Association of
Orthodontics and the American Association of Functional Orthodontics meeting.
Dr Derry Rogers –
Dentist, Derry Rogers
The founder and past president of the Australian Society of Dental Aesthetics, Dr Rogers is an
accredited member of the American Academic of Cosmetic Dentistry, a fellow of the International
Academy of Facial Aesthetics and a member of the International Who’s Who of Professionals. He has
completed an MBA from Harvard University, and is one of the leading cosmetic dentists in Australia,
having over thirty years of experience in the maintenance of aesthetic restorations.
Dr Benedicta Wong –
Periodontist, Balwyn Periodontics
Dr Wong completed her Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Otago in 2005. She
completed her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry specialising in Periodontics at the University of Melbourne.
Dr Wong’s research areas include microbiology of periodontal disease and the therapeutics targeted
at haemolytic bacteria.

Mr Terry Whitty lectures and presents workshops regularly throughout Australia and New
Zealand, USA, Canada and Asia on a variety of dental technology and material science subjects.
He runs a busy laboratory in Sydney specialising in high tech manufacturing, including the latest
advances in intra and extra oral scanning, CAD/CAM, 3D printing & laser weld technologies.
Dr Neil Waddell –
Senior Lecturer, University of Otago (NZ)
Dr Waddell has been a Dental Technician since 1979 and has worked in Australia, New Zealand,
South Africa and Zimbabwe. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (University of Otago) Master’s
Diploma in Dental Technology (Technikon Natal), Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dental
Technology (University of Otago), and a Higher Diploma in Education (University of Natal).
Dr Waddell has lectured internationally on a wide variety of subjects in dental technology
during for over twenty years and during this time, developed specialist expertise in the areas
of implant overdentures, dental materials, maxillofacial and ocular prosthetics and crown and
bridge ceramic restorations.
