Dear Colleagues,
We are glad to inform you that the National
Workshop cum Hands-on-Training on
LATEST TECHNIQUES IN MOLECULAR
BIOLOGY, GENETIC ENGINEERING &
COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY is being
organised by Amity Institute of Biotechnology
at Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior
during 13-17, Oct 2014 (both days inclusive).
On behalf of organising committee, we
welcome you all to apply for participation in
this important training programme. Since we
have limited seats (25 nos.), only selected
participants will be allowed to attend this
programme.
AIM & SCOPE
The aim of this workshop is to provide a
substantive overview of the emerging role of
Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering and
Computational Biology in modern biology.
The organizers are primarily seeking for
researchers/students who are motivated to
build a career in research. The purpose of this
workshop is to accelerate this process by
increasing the working knowledge of modern
biology concepts and techniques. Participants
will benefit greatly from attending this
workshop, as they will be able to get hands-on
exposure of different techniques. They will
interact with experts and discuss relevant
literature for better understanding, designing
and implementation of experiments.
Hands-on-Training Will Cover Following
Techniques
(A) Molecular Biology and Genetic
Engineering
 Isolation and characterization of DNA and
Plasmid;
 Quantification of DNA;
 Linearization, phospho/dephosphorylation;
 Digestion and ligation;
 Competent cell preparation;
 Transformation;
 Screening of recombinants;
 PCR and troubleshooting.
(B) In-silico Tools in Computational
Biology
 Analysis of biological databases;
 Sequence analysis: pair-wise sequence
alignment, multiple sequence alignment,
Pattern search;
 Designing of PCR primers;
 Restriction digestion;
 Searching for homologous and paralogous
sequences.
