Engineering Professions Association of Namibia - News Brief - February 2014 EPA office hours: Monday to Friday from 14h00 - 17h00 only. EPA SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS 2014 The Engineering Professions Association (EPA) of Namibia through its EPA Scholarship Fund Trust is proud to announce, for the awarding of scholarships to twelve deserving students wishing to pursue a career in engineering. The EPA Scholarship Fund Trust, duly registered as a trust and mainly built on donations from EPA members has been in existence for several years with the aim of providing financial assistance to aspiring engineering students – due to the limited fund not so many scholarships could have been given as EPA is a non-profit making organisation. This was finally made possible by a substantial and greatly appreciated injection of funds generously donated by the Swedish Government. Having earmarked three (3) scholarships to the amount of N$25,000 each for 2014 and four (4) students continuing from 2013, the EPA had no easy task selecting the most deserving students from an overwhelming amount of applications received. Assessment criteria based on academic performance and financial need were aimed at determining the applicant’s prospects of successfully attaining a Bachelor’s degree in any one of the engineering disciplines. The EPA Scholarship Fund Trustee, Mr Ako Al-Jaf, opened the award ceremony by stating that the recipients are very privileged to get this scholarship, and they need to work hard for themselves firstly, for their parents, and to help the economy of Namibia with their education and hence should not take this lightly. With congratulations and best wishes for successful studies the EPA announces the following scholarship recipients: 2013 students continuing: Mr. Silas Iileka – Polytechnic of Namibia – B.Eng.
