At a certain Bethlehem inn, the landlord’s cat is so fed up with the hectic
atmosphere and being ignored by his owner, that he is on the verge
of leaving town. However, with the arrival of Mary and Joseph, the cat
(being a wily and intuitive creature) senses that something very special is
about to happen. Naturally he is determined to find out just what it is...

a king is about to be born in Bethlehem. She rushes out into the
night in search of a shiny golden palace fit for such a birth! Her
donkey Steve doesn’t think he’s ever heard of Bethlehem Palace,

be born? On reaching Bethlehem, and with the help of some
gospel-singing angels and a very bright star, the Midwife is led to a
humble stable to find the very special baby already waiting for her.

extraordinary events unfold that take her to a very special stable.
On a cold, snowy night in the middle of winter, a little Robin
is shivering away wishing he could be somewhere a little
warmer. A little bird tells him of some exciting news about

he is invited to join a flock of birds flying south to visit the

Performing A Musical
The performance of a musical to an audience (other than pupils
and staff) requires a performance licence, even if it is a ‘free’
performance. (Please note a Performing Rights Society (PRS) Licence
does NOT cover musicals).
We issue affordable performance licences to schools, churches,
nurseries and other groups.
A performance licence will permit the holder to:
· Perform the musical on the dates applied for

Songs may be sung in assembly without charge. However the
reproduction of the lyrics or musical scores for use in an assembly
or a church requires a licence. The following licences from CCLI
(www.ccli.co.uk/schools) permit the photocopying or reproduction
of song lyrics or musical scores – for example to create song
sheets, overhead transparencies or to display the lyrics or music
using any electronic display medium:
· Play the CD (either backing or vocal tracks) at the performance.
For UK schools: A CWCL and an CWMRL Licence
· Reproduce the song lyrics on printed paper, e.g. for
programmes, to make transparencies for overhead projection

Copying Out of the Ark Music’s audio CDs is not permitted without
obtaining a specific licence from the publisher. Installation of audio
CD tracks on to a computer is strictly forbidden without a licence –
we can provide schools with a ‘Learning Platform Licence’.
Audio/Video/DVD Recordings
You are free to use all of the material – including songs and scripts
– in the classroom for teaching purposes. If photocopying any part
of the book for teaching purposes please record this usage on
your school’s photocopy log to ensure you are legally protected.

If not staging a musical but performing any of our songs for
the public on school premises (i.e. to anyone other than pupils
or staff) then royalty payments become due. Contact Out of the
Ark directly to obtain a licence. Please note: There is no need
to obtain a licence from the publisher if your school has an
arrangement with the Performing Rights Society (PRS) either
directly or through the local authority.
Your CWCL licence also grants you permission to display the song
lyrics from our Words on ScreenTM CD ROMs on a whiteboard
or other screen. Simply log the song titles on your copy report.
