PRINCETON JOINT UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING MINUTES March 13, 2014 The Board of Trustees of the Princeton Joint Unified School District Met in Regular Session Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Princeton Junior Senior High School REGULAR MEETING CALL TO ORDER: Meeting was called to order by Cathy Withrow, Board President at 6:03 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Cindy Campbell, Lance Glassgow, Victoria Reamer, Cathy Withrow Don Perez arrived at 6:04 p.m. MEMBERS ABSENT: None ADMINISTRATORS PRESENT: Mrs. Beth Penner, CBO/HR Director Mr. Cody Walker, Principal Mr. John McIntosh, Superintendent ACTION ITEM: 1. Campbell: Aye Glassgow: Aye Perez: Aye Motion carried 5-0 Reamer: Aye Withrow: Aye PUBLIC COMMENT: None PRESENTATIONS: None REPORTS: STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE Mr. Luis Angel reported the following: Teachers have begun benchmark testing. The football field will receive new grass and trees. Mr. Mercado, the new English teacher, has been here for one month. Classes have been doing grammar, spelling and began reading a book. The first softball game was yesterday. The baseball team played at Maxwell today and will play tomorrow at home against Esparto 4 p.m. DIRECTOR OF MOT Mr. Lance Swift reported the following: The football field will be hydro-seeded this weekend. Nine golden ash trees have been planted on the home side of the football field. The portable bathrooms at the elementary will be receiving new flooring. Bus14 is still at A-Z Bus. It is requiring a motor rebuild. A letter has been drafted to request A-Z Bus cover the cost in full. SUPPORT SERVICES Mr. Cody Walker reported the following on behalf of Ms. Jada Correa: District staff recently received training regarding the SBAC/CAASP Field Test that we will be participating in this year. Student Elective request forms have been completed and tallied and master schedule building has begun. Students have completed both the Glenn County Scholarship Applications and Colusa County Scholarship Applications. Seniors have mock interviews Friday, March 14th in the PHS Staff room. Princeton Prom will be held May 3rd from 9 pm-12 am at the Princeton Portuguese Hall. Theme is “Evening in Paris”. CHIEF BUSINESS OFFICIAL Mrs. Beth Penner reported the following: No report given. PRINCIPAL Mr. Cody Walker reported the following: He attended the second GCOE workshop discussing LCAP. Administration has been having weekly cabinet meetings. The wireless tower installation has been moved to late April or early May. SUPERINTENDENT Mr. John McIntosh reported the following: Assemblyman Logue will be presenting a resolution to the High school on Friday, March 21st. Walden Academy 8th graders will be visiting campus also on March 21st. We are planning to have a rally for the school and visitors that day. In Sacramento on April 9th there will be a hearing with the Assembly Education Committee discussing the impact of budgets and the timeline for deficit spending. Mr. McIntosh will be there to testify on the Necessary Small High School funding Assembly Bill 1946. BOARD MEMBERS Mr. Don Perez reported the following: He will be leaving the Board of Golden State Risk Management. They will be selecting a Board member from Lake School District. Mr. Lance Glassgow reported the following: Positive feedback was received from a parent of a student at Walden Academy for the presentation given by Princeton staff members. Presentation of the 2013-2014 Sunshine Proposal to Princeton Joint Unified School District from California School Employees Association, Chapter #445. 2. Presentation of the 2013-2014 Initial Proposal of the Princeton Joint Unified School District to the California School Employees Association, Chapter #445. 3. Distribution of Form 700 for completion. ACTION ITEMS: 1. Approve Second Interim Report and certification of District’s ability to meet financial obligations for 2013-14 pursuant to Education Code 33128.
