bpa cheerleader tryouts 2014

BPA CHEERLEADER TRYOUTS 2014
With over 100 regional, national and international awards in cheerleading and dance, The Black
Panthers Allstars are amongst the best cheerleaders and dancers in the country. Our current age
range is from 2 to 28 and no experience is necessary to try out.
The try out process is very casual and fun! The athletes demonstrate Jumps, Tumbling Skills and
Choreography. They meet the staff and new friendships are formed. Athletes are evaluated in
groups and we encourage the best from everyone.
Everyone is placed on a team no matter what! After try outs, our staff will create teams based on
their discretion. Many key elements will factor into this decision, keep in mind all BPA teams are
built to compete at a high level.
We can’t wait for you to experience it for yourself, to truly understand the dynamics, excitement
and success of our BPA Family!

TEAMS AND PLACEMENT
This season we hope to have 6 cheerleading teams separated by age and levels.
There may be athletes on any given team that tumble at a different level than the rest of their
teammates. We try to match up the athletes by level as best we can, but please remember that
stunting, pyramids, jumps, dance, motions, and age are huge factors as well. Some will be stronger
tumblers than others. Some will contribute more with stunts than others. We chose our team based
on the positions that we need to fill (Bases, flyers, tumblers, etc.) Every athlete is on the team for a
reason — please trust the staff. Our teams have always done very well.
TEAM ANNOUNCEMENTS
Your athlete placement will be emailed to you and teams will be announced on our website and
social media pages on Tuesday 2nd September.

We will be fundraising throughout this

well as individuals.
An array of events including bag packs at
super markets, showcases and parties will be
scheduled throughout the season to help raise
funds to lower costs for our cheerleaders by
subsidising travel, comp entries and
equipment for our athletes.
BPA will be developing a fundraising team
who will meet every other month.
If you have any ideas for fundraising or would like to be on the fundraising team, please email your
Head coach with your ideas and why you’d like to be a part of it.
PARENT/ATHLETE PROGRAMME POLICIES
If you need assistance or answers to
anything, please contact us!
We are committed to you and always
aim to provide the best customer
service to our BPA clients.
Do not make assumptions about
anything, always ask.
Attitude is everything. If an athlete
has a foul attitude, we will place
him/her into a non-competitive
position until improvements are
made.
All mobile phones must be turned off
or on silent once practice starts.
Respect the rules of the gymnasiums
and facilities we are in.
Do not bring items of value to
training. BPA is not responsible for
lost or stolen items.
Siblings of athletes cannot come
inside the gym to watch practice
unattended. An adult must supervise
them. We cannot baby-sit.
You cannot create or sell your own
BPA clothing. All ideas must be
emailed and approved by the Head
Coach.
Do not gossip about other teams,
parents or kids. Ask rather than listen
to
non-sense or engage
in
irresponsible conduct.
It is the parents/Senior Cheerleaders
responsibility to stay informed. Check
your email and our website regularly.
If you aren’t receiving emails, contact
the Head Coach ASAP. Each week you
should receive a newsletter.
Appropriate footwear must be worn
at practice.
A £15 fine or 15 minutes of
conditioning will be the result of an
unexcused absence.
Absences must be cleared by the head
coach at least 24 hours before
training.
Withholding your child from practice
cannot be used as a form of discipline.
This is unfair to the rest of the team.
Do not post negative comments, our
routines or music on message boards,
YouTube or on any website.
Always show good sportsmanship,
positive conduct and professionalism
at all competitions, shows and
practices.
No profanity or rude language.
Punctuality is a MUST to all practices,
competitions and functions.
If you are late or dressed incorrectly
you will have extra conditioning.
Practice schedules can change, e.g.
we often train for longer before
competitions.
Remove all piercings. This is nonnegotiable. This is a safety issue.
Feel free to talk to your coach about
anything. The line of communication
is always open!
However, there is an appropriate
time, email or text the head coach to
arrange an appointment or call back.
GLAM SQUAD
At every competition, we need a groups of parents to help ‘Glam Up’ our team, getting them
competition ready! If you’ve got experience in hair styling or Make-up or are pretty good at it, please
contact your head coach to be a part of our Glamourous Glam Squad. Every Glam Squad member
will get a free T-Shirt to be worn at competitions.
TEAM CAPTAINS
This season we will be offering cheerleaders the opportunity to be a ‘Team Captain’ for a cheer,
dance or stunt team. The role of this captain will be to assist in the progression of their given team,
be an extra source of team morale, count through different sections of the routine confidently, and
to assist the coaches in training and at events.
This opportunity is open to any Junior or Senior Cheerleader (aged 12 and above)
