Mycoplasma are very small bacteria (0.2 - 2 µm) which have no
cell wall. Because of their small size they can bypass conventional
sterile filters and enter cell cultures, where they primarily grow on
the cell surfaces.
Contamination with mycoplasma very often remains undetected,
however it can severely impair the metabolism of cultivated cells
and lead to reduced proliferation rates or altered results.

SYRINGE FILTERS
Syringe filters, acrylic housing 13 mm
LABSOLUTE® syringe filters with a filter membrane diameter of 13 mm are ideal for the
preparation of small-volume samples in which a very small dead volume is particularly
important. The effective filtration area is 0.6 cm2. The housing, made from blue (pore size:
0.22 µm) or yellow (pore size: 0.45 µm) acrylic, has a pressure resistance of up to 5 bar.
The non-sterile filters are packed in quantities of 500 pieces in
polypropylene pouches, while sterile filters are packaged
in blisters in quantities of 50 pieces per box.

LABSOLUTE® syringe filters with a filter membrane diameter of 25 mm are ideal for the
preparation of samples with a volume from 1.5 ml to 100 ml. The effective filtration area
is 4.6 cm2. The stable acrylic housing can withstand pressures of up to 5 bar (pore size:
0.22 µm blue or pore size: 0.45 µm yellow), this means they allow particularly fast filtration.
Membrane properties:
The cellulose acetate membrane
is hydrophilic and is therefore
particularly ideal for the filtration
of aqueous and alcoholcontaining samples.
