TEAM SHEET DMI - Nokia Sensing XCHALLENGE

TEAM SHEET
“Increasing speed of analysis, obviating bulky consumables, and reducing costs are critical objectives we have
pursued in development of our portable flow cytometer, nanostrips, and non-invasive vitals strap.
The Nokia Sensing XCHALLENGE provides a unique platform to showcase our efforts.”

TECHNICAL INNOVATION
Currently we are developing our rHEALTH
sensor, which is designed to be a universal
health sensor with capabilities to assess
hundreds of different clinical lab tests in a
single drop of blood or bodily fluid. It also
features a detachable wireless vitals sensor
module for monitoring all vital signs. We
recently successfully tested the performance
of our technology with NASA on a series of
parabolic flights over 160 parabolas and from gravity levels from zero to 1.8 g. We are on track to developing a version of
our technology for routine consumer and clinical use.
TEAM STORY
The DNA Medicine Institute is a medtech incubator, laboratory, and
biomedical technology service provider.
We specialize in advanced product
development, biomedical research, and
product development. We bring
products to market in a streamlined
manner. We have cross-functional
expertise in various disciplines of science and engineering. This allows us to identify risks early in biomedical technologies and
create executable plans that lead to exciting and marketable products. Our deep expertise in integration is one of our core
hallmarks.
ABOUT OUR TEAM LEADER
Dr. Chan is a physician-innovator who has made numerous contributions to genomic technologies, medical devices, and
instrumentation. He is the Founder, President, and CEO of the DNA Medicine Institute, an organization focused on advancing
patient care, alleviating human suffering, and treating disease through innovation. Eugene graduated from Harvard University
Summa Cum Laude and the Harvard Medical School, MIT HST Program with honors. He completed his internship in internal
medicine at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital and is licensed to practice medicine in multiple states.
While taking a six year hiatus from his medical training, he was the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of U.S. Genomics, a
company that has completed two commercial DNA analysis instruments based on his principle of single molecule fluorescent
DNA scanning. He is the Founder or Co-Founder of various biotechnology and medical devices companies, which in total
have raised more than $120 million in funding. He holds more than 50 issued and pending patents.
THE NOKIA SENSING XCHALLENGE
The $2.25 million global competition to accelerate the development of sensors and sensing technology that is smaller,
lighter and able to capture true clinical data on a personalized scale. Making sense of your health.
