Changes are always in the air. We have exciting news that we
wanted to share with you. As our sponsor, the Park and Recreation
Department has undertaken a realignment of resources. I am
pleased to announce that the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program
(RSVP) Director will now oversee and coordinate Burbank
volunteers of all ages. This action will bring several volunteer
programs together under one program; creating a single point of
contact and utilize one volunteer enrollment form, handbook and
timesheet.
Our new name: Burbank Volunteer Program (BVP), will not
eliminate the RSVP program but add depth and growth to the city’s
volunteer program. RSVP will operate as a BVP program, using our
41 years of vibrant and lasting service as a model for all other
volunteer programs. RSVP is still very much alive and strong,
reflecting a roster of 650 active seniors and as always, leading the
charge of volunteerism in Burbank.
We will be housed in the Joslyn Adult Center and welcome
a new staff member, Arda Sevan to the program. Arda will also be
housed out of Joslyn Adult Center and will work with Dee on those
volunteers younger than 55 years of age. Arda comes to us as a
part time employee, mostly available in the morning hours. Patty
Molinar continues to work with RSVP and Dee with our volunteers
age 55+.
