Q100 Qi BST (Base Station Tester)
The wireless power standard Qi is growing rapidly and the WPC
(Wireless Power Consortium) now have over 100 member companies.
A successful wireless charging technology requires full compatibility –
any mobile device must work with any base station, regardless of the
manufacturer. The key to compatibility is having powerful and flexible
test tools that enable thorough and accurate testing.
AudioDev’s test tools for the base station and the mobile device are
used for development purposes, for pre-certification as well as for production control. AudioDev’s test tools for Qi are also used by reference laboratories when certifying consumer products before they are
released to the market.

The CATS Q100 Qi BST
Options
The Q100 Qi BST is designed to test the base station (i.e. the transmitter)
and includes five reference measurement coils. The test tool allows for a
wide range of test cases, including (but not limited to) adjusting timing parameters, inserting protocol violations, monitoring output power,
adjusting the output load, monitoring the control error and much more.
Each unit has a built-in computer that is running Windows 7 and is
delivered with keyboard, mouse and a 19” monitor.
To be able to fully use the CATS Q100 Qi BST, a suitable four-channel
oscilloscope is necessary (not included).
A number of options can be chosen for the CATS Q100 Qi BST:
• FOD (Foreign Object Detection)
The CATS Q100 Qi BST can be upgraded to support FOD that is part
of version 1.1 of the Wireless Power Transfer, Volume 1: Low Power.
The upgrade includes the ability to measure the received power with
very high accuracy, enabling the test tool to measure the impact of any
foreign object placed near the wireless power transfer. The upgrade also
includes reference objects and reference coil TPR#5/#6.

The Measurement Coils
The Q100 Qi BST includes five reference measurement coils (the TPR#1
configuration A-, B-, C-, D- and E) that are individually tuned to maximize the measurement accuracy. The coils are color coded and connected
to the back of the BST-unit using XLR-connectors.
