12/2014 2015 TA2, GT2, RACE CAR The Howe road race car was developed to fill a niche for a real race car with a recognizable look, low operating cost and maximum performance. The Howe design has been refined and proven with over 80 cars in the European Camaro Cup / V8 Thunder Car Series since 2010 and nearly 50 in the USA since 2011. This 2015 version is the culmination of development with an all star list of drivers including Pete Halsmer, Cameron Lawrence, Adam Andretti, Tommy Archer, Nic Jonsson, Tommy Kendall, Wally Dallenbach and Jan Magnussen. For the U.S. market the cars are configured to Trans Am 2, GT2 or open specs. Key Features Body – All three brands of American muscle cars are represented with a choice of Generation 5 Camaro, Mustang and Challenger look bodies. The bodies are all fiberglass with a poly propylene nose available on the Camaro. The body dimensions are altered from stock only enough to fit a common chassis. Each model has a common 104” wheelbase and 64” center of tread width. The windows are poly carbonate with a replaceable tear off film applied to the windshield. Any chassis can be re branded by changing the bumper supports and body. Engine may be interchanged for club racing but are to be matching to meet SCCA rules. The Dodge SRT Challenger introduced in 2014. 2013-14 Trans Am Champion Cameron Lawerence Standard analog gauges include oil pressure and temp, water temp, fuel pressure, fuel level and trans temp. Switches for the engine and brake fans, trans pump, defogger, tail lights, fresh air system and wipers. The gen 5 Camaro body MulƟ Trans Am race winner Adam Andreƫ Wheels and Tires – 15” diameter x 10” wide, 5x5 painted steel Basset racing wheels are standard. A series spec aluminum wheel is also available but all wheels have the same minimum weight of 18lbs. TA2 spec Hoosier tires are available at current market price. Digital data logging systems choices are AIM or Race Tech Digital. You can choose to install your seat or we can install one for your. Steering – The rugged Woodward rack and pinion and servo allow the steering quickness and feel to be tailored to your preference. A Driven steering wheel is standard. Cooling – The Howe aluminum radiator includes a surge tank to improve efficiency. There are independent coolers for engine oil, steering and transmission fluid. The rear end has a mechanical pump and chassis mounted cooler ducted to an inlet on the right B-pillar. Standard Steel OpƟonal Aluminum The gen 5 Mustang body Bobby Kennedy at Daytona Engine – The chassis will accept most V-8 racing engines but if you intend on competing in the TA2 class the choices are restricted to a limited number of suppliers with the engine make matching the body style. With the TA2 legal restrictor engines are limited to 475 with a 6800 rpm limit. For open racing the restrictor may be removed and rpm limit raised and engines may be interchanged. Unrestricted option range in power from 525 to near 700 hp. The engines use a dry sump oil system with the 10 quart aluminum tank. Schwanke LS3, EFI dry sump engine pictured. Engines from Katech, Wegner, Ilmor and DSS are also available. Each body type is desgined to maintain a factory idenƟty while fiƫng a common chassis. Exhaust – The exhaust system includes Howe ceramic coated headers and a muffler to keep the sound below 100 db at 100 feet. The entire underside of the aluminum interior is protected with high temperature Poron insulation. Brakes – The standard master cylinders are Howe G3’s with remote fluid reservoirs. Calipers options are available from Wilwood, Performance Friction and Stop Tech. Front brake rotors by rule are 12.19” with a floated hat type mount. The rear rotors are 11.75” in either solid or floated mount. High output SRS Brake Fans are standard. Glossy Black on this new Mustang but you may choose. any automoƟve color. Brake opƟons are availible from Wilwood, Performance FricƟon, AP and Stop Tech. Front Suspension - The front suspension is a double wishbone type with durable Howe low friction ball joints and upper a-frames. Hypercoil brand springs are standard. 7500 Series Penske shocks are standard. Penske 8300 series double adjustable are opƟonal. Rear Suspension -The rear suspension is the threelink type with an adjustable panhard bar or an optional watts linkage. Shocks – Cars are built to fit any ½” bearing mount coilover type racing shock though we recommend Penske. Your choice of 7500 series aluminum body shocks or optional single or double adjustable options. Other brands are availible on request. Rear Axle – We use a reliable Tiger quick change rear end equipped with a Detroit locker differential or a Gleason differential on request. The rear end has an integral mechanical cooling pump with an external cooler. The Tiger rear end is assembled with high strength ARP ring bolts to improve durability for heavy down shifting. 2 Independant 5lb. fire systems. Fire System – The car comes standard with two independent five pound fire systems mounted on the right side. This gives the driver the option of activating one system under the car and a separate system in the cockpit if needed. The in cockpit system is installed with a manual or automatic heat activated trigger. High volume SRS Fans have been added as standard. Standard Tiger low fricƟon quickchange rear end with Detroit Locker and itegral cooling pump standard. G101A G-Force 4 Speed. Quarter Master 7-1/4” V-drive clutch. Transmission – Class rules specify a stock car type non-sequential 4 speed with an H pattern shifter. We recommend a G-Force G101A for most applications. Additional transmission options are available on request. An electric transmission circulation pump and cooler are included. Clutch – The standard clutch is a Quartermaster 7.25” three disc housing with two special thickness “Rally” discs to allow for taking off with high speed gearing. This clutch is part of a package that includes an aluminum bell housing with a reverse mounted starter. Set-Up and Manual – Each new car is set–up to your application weight and preferences. A complete manual is supplied with each car with information and chassis adjustments, maintenance, recommended spares and tools. Terms – Standard production cars are seasonally in stock and custom cars are built to order. Completion times on custom cars are seasonal and typically range from 6-12 weeks. Car orders require a minimum deposit of 50% prior to production with the balance due on completion. All prices are F.O.B. our plant. Spare Parts – Spare and replacement part are kept in stock and are supported at many of the Trans Am events. Each car is fiƩed with a Fuel Cell with a high tensile strength flexible bladdder.. Opening leŌ door with a containment seat. The monotube chassis is a balance of weight, performance and driver protecƟon. Any popular racing seat can be adapted to the car. We can install your seat or you can choose from Sparco, Race Tech or Richardson. A 10 quart Howe oil tank is mounted on the ride side for beƩer weight balance. New for 2015 the tank includes a sight glass for checking oil level at a glance The GM produced Camaro Cup engine is an excellant value for more power and less cost if you are not running in Trans Am pro races. It is a LS3 hybrid with factory dry sump. Produces 475 hp with restrictor and 525 hp without. OpƟonal Fresh air system with cool shirt. LED brake lights and SCCA legal tow loops front and rear. The Trans Am 2 spec wing is now carbon fiber for 2015. There are currently more than 80 Howe Road race cars compeƟng in naƟonally televised events in Europe as the V8 Thunder car class in three seperate championship series.
