1. Ubiquitech client on Samsung XOA A3 & A4 devices
This technical manual is a description how to install the Ubiquitech client software for Samsung
A3 and A4 device and also some information about the features and options
Below some of the features and options listed for the supported Samsung devices


















Embedded devices: SCX-5835_5935X - SCX-5835FN, SCX-6545NX, SCX-6545N, SCX6555NX, SCX-6555N, CLX-8380ND, CLX-8385NX, CLX8385ND, C8030/8040ND and
C9250/C9350ND
Authentication using user name and password or short ID
Print usage accounting per user, department or custom
Persistent journal of copy, print, scan operation for reliable accounting
Support for USB card readers – Mifare, HID and EM + more
Display the list of pending jobs in the pull queue
Display user’s account balance and minimal credit limit
Print or delete selected jobs
Support for the client billing codes
Automatic logout after a specified period of inactivity
Copy, fax, scan accounting using built-in accounting features of the solution
Support for the Ubiquitech terminal discovery and configuration protocols (requires UDP socket

To make the installation and implementation as easy and quickly as possible, the VDMS client
will automatic makes all the changes needed also to the device, so it will works without further
configuration, so the pictures below is just a documentation of the changes that has been made
for investigation if something should not
1.1. Link to the SyncTrue web site on the device
Link to Samsung SyncThru Web service with a browser by typing http://ipaddress of the device.
Type the ID (example – admin)
Password (example – 1111)
Please reference to the information provided based on the setup of the device.
After login, please go to Maintenance and press to go into the menu
Go down to Application and press Add
Then browse to the place that contains the VDMS Client software or the Samsung Firmware, if
this needs to be updated. The application will have a statement called “validated”

This is also the place for Delete of the VDMS Client application or change of setting like (enable
or disable) the application.
The VDMS client application for Samsung XOA A3 and A4 devices makes automatic
configuration of the setting for the A3 or A4 device, so no further configuration is needed and it
ready to be used.

The screen shots below are documentation for the configuration that has been done on the
device to get the VDMS client to work.
Notice:
Please make check under the ”Application State” – press Edit Application and make sure that
the application “print” is disable or the VDMS client will not release the job on the A3 device
Please make sure that “Device Authentication” is used and the “vdmsAAProvider” is checked

By press the “LoginPage button” the pictures below comes up and please check that the
“VDMS-for-LUI is checked so the front panel of the A3 or A4 device will have the login page for
VDMS client

For the Accounting Management to be activated , you need to go to the Accounting Method and
check that the Accounting Method is checked and the ”vdmsQuotaProvider” is checked as
showed below.
Please notice in the configuration of the Samsung A3 and A4 XOA device on the Ubiquitech
VDMS or Easy Server that the server-side print accounting must be turned off as on the
picture below:

2. Installation on Samsung A4 XOA Platform
To make an installation on the Samsung XOA A4 device, first link to the SyncThru web site by
typing http://ipaddress

Go to login and add the ID and password – (example ID – admin and Password – 1111) and
press login to get access to the device.
Press Network/Security/Maintenance to install the VDMS client software.

Make a link to the VDMS Client file and press OK
Go to Security and the User Access Control and make a check that these settings are added.

2.1. Ubiquitech client on Samsung XOA A3 or A4 device:

Embedded Keyboard
It is also possible to use the keyboard on the device for quick login for “Short ID” – example type
1234 and the press # will be the same as using the embedded keyboard on the device.

Please wait messages on the device for the user to be authenticated and get access to the
device.

2.2. Job list access:
Show the user and the balance with information about number of jobs and job list with
information of cost for the job. On this page the functions are Print All, Print, and Delete or use
the Logout button to exit back to the VDMS Client Main login screen. The Keep Job button gives
the option to release a job and then it will not be deleted from the job list as normal released
jobs will be.

Press the “Home Button# in the right corner will give access to the other functions on the device
like Copy, Scan, Fax and more and by press the VDMS client button, it will go back to the Job
list screen.

The VDMS client will make a validation and make an error messages if the user is not found.
Also below if example of a error messages, if the user has a wrong card ID

Or the user has invalid balance to release
3. Installation & configuration for Samsung Non-XOA devices
VDMS client makes also support for Non-XOA device as listed below with a Firmware and
VDMS client for embedded client support with integration into Ubiquitech server software like
Easy and VDMS.
The firmware are specially developed firmware and doesn’t also reflect the productions firmware
on the devices, but it’s needs to add for VDMS client to work as Embedded client on the devices
below.

5. Installation of the Firmware and VDMS:
Installation of the VDMS Client and Firmware is the same procedure.
First make an installation of the Firmware based on the pictures below and then do the same
procedure the VDMS client
Access the SyncThru web site for the device with http://ipaddress

Make browse to the Firmware that needs to be installing and press upgrade and wait for the
process.
Notice:
When the VDMS client is installed, then the device is locked and can’t be accessed without a
proper login against the Ubiquitech Server software or my using the technical login for support
of the device that makes limited access to the device.
If VDMS client should be uninstalled, please add a Samsung production firmware on the device
and then the VDMS client will be uninstalled and can be used as a normal Samsung device.
To be able to make access to other functions on the device, then use the * button to move
between the VDNS client application and the features like Copy, Scan and fax.
