Pump Selection to be done as per the individual performance curves for
finalization taking into consideration the above factors.
The NPSH values given in individual characteristic curves are the
minimum values which correspond to cavitation limits & are valid for
water without gases. The individual curves are for nominal speed &
selection should be corrected based on effective speed of the drive unit.
__________________________________________________________
NPSHavailable must be more than NPSH required by atleast 0.5m.
Selection Guidelines - Individual curve
1> The pump curves indicate differential pressure head generated at the
given impeller diameter. For operating points following in between two
curves, the diameter should be calculated suitably.
2> The model wise limitations of the flow (Qmin & Qmax) must be taken
care while selecting the pumps. As a good engineering practice, the
selection should be closer to Qopt to have the minimum bkW.
3> The NPSH values given in pump curves are the minimum values which
correspond to cavitation limits & are valid for water without gases.
NPSHavailable must be more than NPSH required by at least 0.5m
3> Pump curves are for nominal speed & selection should be corrected
based on effective speed of the drive unit.
4> Pump curves are valid for water (Density equal to 1.0 kg/dm³). For
other liquids proper care should be taken to arrive at the power required.

4> Prime Mover-Electric Motor/ Diesel Engine
Couplings
The coupling between pump and prime mover can be either flexible or spacer type.
For ease of maintenance and to take advantage of back pull out feature of the
pump, spacer type coupling is recommended.
Prime Mover
Prime mover to be used is electric motor as standard. Steam turbine or an I.C.
engines can be used upon request.

Noise Level
The noise levels of the pump comply with the Directive 001/30 1992 of the EUROPUMP Commission. The following table provides
approximate values:.
Notes :
Additional noise can be
generated by:
• The driver.
• A possible misalignment
of the coupling.
• Pipework
(The larger the pipe
diameter, the lower
the pipe noise.)
