YELLOW HOUSE MUFTI DAY – THURSDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2014
Congratulations to the Yellow House for winning the House Points Cup last half term. Children in
YELLOW house can wear mufti with a splash of yellow next Thursday 13 November.
TUESDAY 11 NOVEMBER – REMEMBRANCE DAY 2014
Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November to recall the end of hostilities of WWI on that date in
1918. Poppies have been on sale in school all week and we will hold a two minute period of silent
reflection at 11am on Tuesday, 11 November.
SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS
Congratulations to the upper school athletics team who attended the regional heat of the Christchurch
Schools Indoor Athletics Competition. The standard of competition was very high and we are proud to
say that CJS won on the day and are through to the next round, the Christchurch and Purbeck Area
Finals.
CHILDREN IN NEED – MUFTI DAY – FRIDAY 14 NOVEMBER 2014
CJS children traditionally plan and run their own “Bring and Buy” table top sale each year for Children in
Need. Each class will set up a table for cakes / biscuits (please remember that they must be nut free)
and good, used condition books and toys (please make sure that games and puzzles are complete and
the lids are taped to prevent pieces being lost). Items for sale can be brought to school on the day and
the children are asked to bring plenty of change to spend. Children can wear mufti and a suggested
donation of £1 is requested. Last year we raised an amazing £1057.30 for Children in Need.
STAFF VACANCY - MID-DAY SUPERVISOR (7.5 HOURS PER WEEK, £6.45 PER HOUR)

CHARTWELLS CATERING – TASTER SESSIONS AND NEW CONTACT DETAILS

quality of food and noticing lots of empty plates! Parents will have a chance to join a taster session on
Wednesday 19 November at the end of the school day (letter to follow).
The Customer Services team is also now based in Poole and can be reached on 01202 695965 for all

MACMILLAN CARING LOCALLY – WHITE CHRISTMAS DIP 2014
MacMillan Caring Locally will be holding their 7th annual Christmas morning dip at 9.45am on Boscombe
Pier this year. Last year, this event raised over £250,000 with 300 people taking part. They are hoping to
smash this year’s target by getting over 500 participants. For more information, please visit
http://www.whitechristmasdip.co.uk
CHRISTCHURCH PARENT DROP IN
The Parent Partnership Service is running drop in sessions for parents in Christchurch. These drop in
sessions are an opportunity to have tea/coffee and to meet informally with professionals who can offer
support, advice and guidance on many issues affecting family life. The areas they cover include:
housing, budgeting, challenging behaviour, special educational needs, childcare and general information
on local activities. They can also offer a listening ear. These sessions will be held at Burton Youth
Centre (BH23 7NH), 10am to 12 noon on November 17th and December 1st and 15th.
NUT FREE SCHOOL
Please remember that we promote a nut free environment in school to protect our children and adults
who have life threatening allergic reactions to nuts and nut products (ie anaphylaxis). Please could we
ask that you read product labels carefully and avoid, wherever possible, sending your children with items
marked “may contain nuts”. Many thanks for your assistance.
HEAD LICE
As head lice in school is a recurring problem, could we please ask that you continue checking your
child’s hair on a regular basis with a detection comb?
Should you require further information or help on detection and treatments, please consult
your family doctor, your local pharmacist or contact our school nurse on 01202 891157.
