CNP Board Resolution Issue 4

RESOULTION TO SUPPORT ISSUE 4 FOR THE CLEVELAND METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress believes access to quality schools and educational
achievement are inextricably bound to neighborhood success, job readiness, and wealth building; and
WHEREAS, improved educational outcomes for all Cleveland residents are critical; and
WHEREAS, the community development system is an important partner in creating access to quality
school options for neighborhood residents and has demonstrated this through advocacy efforts on the
Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s Master Facilities Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s Master Facilities Plan, which will be funded by
Issue 4, is aligned with the Cleveland Plan for Transforming Schools; and
WHEREAS, the Master Facilities Plan gives the District the flexibility to start new school models and
ensures quality school options in every neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Issue 4 will allow for construction of 22 new schools and the refurbishing of 20-23 schools,
and will also generate $2.5 million annually for building maintenance without raising taxes; therefore be
it
RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors for Cleveland Neighborhood Progress fully endorse Issue 4 to
support the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in garnering needed resources to implement the
Master Facilities Plan for the benefit of children and families in Cleveland’s neighborhoods.
