Priscilla Yeung
Princeton University, Class of 2017
2011 CSE Alumni in Hong Kong
What are you studying now at university?
I am currently taking classes on Psychology, Computer
Science, French, Animal Behavior and Fairy Tales, but I
plan on concentrating in Politics.
What is one highlight of CSE that still remains with you today?
In all honesty, the relationship I built with the Fellow and the other members of my group. Even after
three years, when our Fellow returned to Hong Kong for CSE 2013, we met up for dim sum and he
encouraged me to apply to CSE 2014 as a Fellow myself. What he told me about university life in the
US was one of the factors that drove me to come to the US for college.
What did you draw from CSE that you still reflect upon in your current studies?
The encouragement our Fellows gave us to explore academic areas that are not covered in the
secondary school syllabus, from psychology to programming. The training CSE gave me in speaking up
with my ideas and sharing Hong Kong with those from other cultures.
What summer programme or long-term extracurricular activities did you participate in while in
secondary school?
At school I was a part of Model United Nations (MUN), Prefects’ Board, School Choirs, School Band,
volunteer work and Orienteering Club. In addition to CSE in 2011, I also attended Education Program
for Gifted Youth (EPGY) 2009 at Stanford University and the National Academy for Gifted and Talented
Youth (NAGTY) 2007 at Imperial College London.
What about university life do you wish to share with CSE participants?
There is an atmosphere of intellectual stimulation that encourages you to explore any and all academic
interests you have; in only my first year here, I have taken a class on superheroes and one on fairy
tales. You will meet people from backgrounds that are completely opposite from yours (my roommate
hails from a town with three shops) and learn and be inspired by them on a daily basis. University life
here – and my personal growth – completely exceeded my expectations.
