The Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) and Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS) certification
programmes are for those seeking to get a career-enhancing credential conferred by the
Society of Wine Educators (SWE).
SOCIETY OF WINE EDUCATORS
The Society of Wine Educators, founded in 1977, is a non-profit educational organization
in the United States of America whose mission is to advance wine education through
professional development and certification. It has an extensive network with over 2,200
members in 20 countries representing every facet of the wine industry.
The Society of Wine Educators offers several certification programs: the Certified Specialist
of Wine (CSW), Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS), Certified Wine Educator (CWE), and
Hospitality/Beverage Specialist Certificate (HBSC). These self-study educational programs
are internationally recognized and highly regarded in the wine and spirits industry. Through
its certification examinations, the Society of Wine Educators validates wine and spirits
knowledge. Successful candidates are entitled to add the appropriate post-nominal to their
professional signature accordingly.

EXAMINATION
The CSW Examination consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. Candidates have to
complete the exam in one hour. It is scheduled through Pearson Testing Center at the
candidate’s preferred time and place. For exam registration details, please visit http://www.
pearsonvue.com/societyofwineeducators/.
Successful candidate who achieves a score of 75% or better qualifies a Certified Specialist
of Wine and is entitled to use the CSW post-nominal as part of their professional signature.
They will also receive a certificate and a CSW lapel pin. The CSW serves as the prerequisite
for those wishing to pursue the Certified Wine Educator certification.

together with appropriate fee(s) to the Secretariat 2 weeks before the courses commence.
Reservations by fax 2774 8503 are welcome but are subject to payment in full prior to
programme commencement. Successful applicants will be notified by telephone. No
separate letter of acceptance will be issued. As space is limited, bookings will be on a
first-come, first-served basis.

Registration must be made on the Enrolment Form provided and returned to the Association before the programme commencement date (Not less than 2 weeks with full fee.
Acceptance is subject to the discretion of the Association.
Applicants will be notified by telephone to confirm receipt of the application form and full programme fee. An official receipt will be sent to you within two weeks.
Applicants are expected to attend the course at the place and time specified in the brochure unless otherwise notified.
When a programme is over-subscribed, additional classes may be started in some cases. Applicants may then be notified of the new time, dates and place of meetings
when necessary.

No refund will be made after payment, but participants can arrange to have their places substituted should they be unable to attend the programme by notifying the
Association at least 2 days prior to programme commencement.
Fax reservations are welcome but are subject to confirmation by payment in full within 10 days of the date the reservation is made or 5 days prior to programme commencement, whichever is sooner.
Applications, upon full payment, will be processed on a first-come first-served basis.
When Typhoon Signal No.8 or above is in force during classes/examinations, all classes and examinations will be dismissed immediately. Replacement classes and remedial
examinations will be arranged. When Black Rainstorm Warning is in force during classes/examinations, all classes and examinations will be held as scheduled.
