OBJECTIVE
To continue a challenging career in applied research by using the skills I have acquired in safety
pharmacology, animal research and a graduate education.
EDUCATION
Ph.D., Pharmaceutical Sciences, Graduated with honors, University of California, Berkeley,
December 2001
MS Biochemistry, University of Nevada, Reno, January 1999
BS Biochemistry, University of Missouri, June 1996
EXPERIENCE
2004 - Present
Head, In Vitro Pharmacology - Pharmacology Department
XYZ Laboratories, Inc., San Francisco CA
* Provide direction for in vitro cardiovascular pharmacology group. Assess new drug
candidates for cardiovascular risk; including QT prolongation/Torsades, AV conduction
block, negative inotropy, and arrhythmias. Interaction with clients to discuss study results,
next step strategies. Prepare appropriate text for inclusion in IND submissions if required.
* Assure GLP compliance and high quality of studies.
* Project planning, calculation of pricing structure, review of contracts, reporting financial
milestones, training and collaboration with sales staff.
* Assist in analysis of telemetry data.
2001 - 2004
Group Leader, Cardiac Electrophysiology - Safety Pharmacology
ABC Services, New York NY
* Study Director role; design, direct, evaluate and report results of cardiovascular
pharmacology studies evaluating the effects of new drug candidates on cardiac action
potentials. Provide technical direction and leadership to staff involved in the conduct of these
studies, adapt and/or adopt new techniques for in vitro pharmacology; consult and interact
with clients. Participate in IACUC activities.
1999 - 2001
Associate Scientist - ADME Department
Acme Pharmaceuticals, Inc, Chicago IL
* Design and help conduct experiments to evaluate drug effects on cytochrome P450 (CYP)
enzymes. This includes assessment of a compounds ability to cause induction of CYP
expression or inhibition of specific CYP activity, as well as predicting drug/drug interactions.
Techniques include incubation of drugs in hepatocytes (whole or homogenized), microsome
preparation and incubations, assessment of microsomal protein levels and P450 content,
programming for the Hamilton liquid handling system, Western immunoblotting, enzyme
activity assays, and LC/MS quantitation of metabolites. Knowledge of GLP procedures is
required. Responsibilities include protocol and report generation and project representation.
