International Final Planning Conference Mentawai Megathrust Disaster Relief Exercise 22 January 2014 – Padang, West Sumatra OBJECTIVE 2 To improve skill & capabilities of command and its staff in decision making process To exercise developing specific plans, policies, procedures in an Incident Management System To evaluate Command, Control and inter agency Coordination in planning process for disaster relief operation To enhance information sharing mechanism for early warning system and disaster response, including process of receiving intl assistance Procedure & mechanism for decision making process , through: - Situation Analysis - Setting objective & Strategy - Developing an Action Plan - Determination of resources - Implementation of an Action Plan & evaluation & improvement EXERCISE SUMMARY Mentawai Megathrust DiREx is designed to validate and evaluate individual capabilities, multiple functions, activities within a function, or interdependent groups of functions Events are projected through an exercise scenario that utilizes a Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) with event updates that drive activity at the management level EXERCISE SUMMARY... Simulate the reality of operations in a functional area by presenting complex and realistic problems that require rapid and effective responses by controller in a highly stressful, time-constrained environment Generally concentrate on exercising the plans, policies, procedures, and staffs of Incident Command (IC), Area Command (AC), and/or Multi-Agency Coordination Centers (e.g., Emergency Operations Centers [EOCs]). 5 6 Movement of personnel and equipment is simulated.
