WorkBC Career Building Presentation
Alex Bell from the Pacific Community Resources Society (part of
WorkBC) visited VCCT for the second time on November 27th, 2014.
Alex informed our students about services offered by WorkBC, and
provided useful tips on how to become more employable.
WorkBC offices can assist with job searches and provide variety of
workshops to assist job seekers. For more information on services

We enjoyed having Alex here, and look forward to his next visit, which
will be in Summer 2015.
ACCT Presentation
At VCCT, we do our best to
keep our students and
graduates well-informed of
designation options and
process, as well as the
upcoming regulation changes
in BC. A part of that effort is
made by regularly inviting
board members of the
Association of Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT)
to come in and share their expertise with our students and
alumni.

On November 20th, 2014, VCCT’s graduate counsellor and
now a ACCT Board Member Tom Brooks visited us for an
information session.
During the session, Tom explained the process of becoming an ACCT member, the benefits, and services offered by the
association. Many questions related to supervision, and regulatory changes were also answered.
VCCT will continue to offer regular ACCT info sessions. Anyone interested in attending future sessions can contact the
Admissions Department ([email protected] 604-683-2442). The next session is scheduled for March 2015.

Halloween Contest
TRICK OR TREAT!
It’s a bit late, but thank you everyone for participating in
the 2014 Halloween Costume Contest.
We had more entries than ever before, so it was very
difficult to pick the winners! After a long deliberation,
the prizes (gift cards from Starbucks and Subway) went
to two winners: Kerrin Daniels who was a blood-thirsty
vampire, and Michael Nishi, a mad scientist!
Congratulations!
It wasn’t just the students that dressed up, of course;
our front desk administrator, Carla Iacobellis, was
dressed up as a cute German mountaineer, Alex
Jaworsky of Student Records & Distance Education
wore frightening halloween accessories, our Executive
Director Lydia Manko wore a sexy masquerade mask
and Alice Kang, the Admissions Coordinator, was a
dark angel.

Staff Profile
In this edition we are profiling our
Finance Administrator & Bookkeeper: Sunny Chen
Sunny graduated with a BA in Finance from Nanjing Normal University in Nanjing,
China. After immigrating to Canada in 2004, she completed the Administrative
Assistant Certificate Program at VCC. She is responsible for all of VCCT’s
finance-related duties, such as creating invoices, issuing receipts, and processing
payments.
She is happily married with a 6 year old son and an 8 year old daughter. On days
she’s not at work, she enjoys hiking and playing soccer with her kids.
