CANNED FOOD DRIVE AND GIVING
TREE GOING ON NOW:
The annual Canned Food Drive and
Giving Tree will be conducted from
December 1st –12th. This drive helps our
local Boring Fire Department in
supporting nearly 300 needy families in
our community.
DCD will be holding 2 competitions this
year, and each winning class will receive
a Fire Department pizza party. One
competition will be between our
Kindergarten through 5th grade
classrooms and the other will be between
6th through 8th grade advisory
classrooms. Please start bringing in your
canned and boxed food items. Be sure
that food donations have not expired and
are unopened.
Leadership will be counting the donated
food and posting daily totals.
We will also have a Giving Tree located
in our library. The tree will hold tags
identifying the age range of a child to buy
a gift for. Please place the tag on the
UNWRAPPED gift and return it to the
tree.
BARNES & NOBLE BOOK FAIR:
This Friday, December 5th, from 4pm to
8pm we will be having a Book Fair at
Barnes & Noble at Clackamas Town
Center. There will be a story time and hot
chocolate for all. This is a fun time for the
whole family. If you buy anything in the
store it goes towards our Book Fair. Your
child will receive a bookmark with a Deep
Creek - Damascus code on it and when you
buy you just show them the bookmark.
Our library assistant, Mrs. Bender, will be
there with a DCD table and have lots of
bookmarks in case you forget yours. Come
say "Hi" and enjoy the story and hot cocoa.

(Grades 6-8)
This week in advisory the PBIS focus will
be on setting goals for the new
trimester. Students may be setting personal,
academic, and/or social goals. Please ask
your child how you can help support them
so that they can meet their goals.
A HUGE THANK YOU:
Thank You, Thank You! Once again our
own Ron Welsh (a retired teacher) is
supporting our library. Ron has always been
a big supporter of our students being great
readers. He taught hundreds of his students
to love reading because he believed that
reading is the cornerstone to learning. Ron
has donated two gift cards to Barnes and
Noble for our library. This gift is so very
appreciated and will be enjoyed by many,
many students.
Ron was an amazing teacher. He truly cared
about his students and even though he has
retired he is still encouraging our children to
read. A big loving "Thank You" to Ron
Welsh.
