DCD will be holding 2 competitions this year, and each winning class will receive a Fire Department pizza party. One competition will be between our Kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms and the other will be between 6th through 8th grade advisory classrooms. Please start bringing in your canned and boxed food items. Be sure that food donations have not expired and are unopened. Leadership will be counting the donated food and posting daily totals. We will also have a Giving Tree located in our library. The tree will hold tags identifying the age range of a child to buy a gift for. Please place the tag on the UNWRAPPED gift and return it to the tree. Once again our own Ron Welsh (a retired teacher) is supporting our library. Ron has always been a big supporter of our students being great readers. He taught hundreds of his students to love reading because he believed that reading is the cornerstone to learning. Ron has donated two gift cards to Barnes and Noble for our library. This gift is so very appreciated and will be enjoyed by many, many students. Ron was an amazing teacher. He truly cared about his students and even though he has retired he is still encouraging our children to read. A big loving "Thank You" to Ron Welsh.
