by SR-18 on the northwest, the Maple Valley Highway on the northeast,
Ravensdale on the east, and the Green River on the south. Cities within

The District was formed in 1960 with fewer than 100 customers.
With growth and by merging with a number of small water districts; the District has reached more than
17,000 connections.

over 267 miles of pipeline.
The District's water supply consists of groundwater via our production wells allotted to us by the State
of Washington (our Water Right), and water from the Green River Watershed via the Regional Water
Supply System (RWSS). The District has been a 19.44% partner in the RWSS since 2002 and started
receiving water from behind the Howard Hanson Dam in 2006. Our water is tested regularly by a State
certified laboratory to confirm it meets or exceeds all regulatory standards.
The District promotes conservation through newsletters and articles, and a rate structure that encourages conservation by adopting a peak user rate. Covington Water District is active in the Water and
Sewer Risk Management Pool, American Water Works Association, Central Puget Sound Water
