SPORT SPECIFIC HOST REQUIREMENTS
This document serves as a supplement to the 2014-15 NJCAA CHAMPIONSHIP HOST MANUAL & REQUIREMENTS
The information contained in this document provides the minimum bid specifications specific to hosting the
Division III Volleyball Championship for the NJCAA. Please keep in mind that any potential HOST must also meet
the requirements set forth in the 2014-15 NJCAA CHAMPIONSHIP HOST MANUAL & REQUIREMENTS.
All activities and events associated with the championship are to be approved by the NJCAA Championship Events
Committee.

FACILITY REQUIREMENTS
Exclusivity
HOST shall provide the NJCAA exclusive use of a facility for the duration of the tournament that can accommodate
12 matches and 8 practice sessions. Facility must provide two regulation-sized volleyball courts that have all
required markings visible on the playing surface. The facility must meet collegiate volleyball standards for nets,
platforms, etc. Facility also must be equipped with lights, electronic scoreboards, press box area,
concession/souvenir areas, locker rooms, adequate rest rooms, athletic training facilities meeting rooms, on-site
parking, public address/sound systems, signage and all normal preparation and facility maintenance, etc.
Compliance
Facility must be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and all applicable city, state or federal
regulations concerning access and seating for people with disabilities. Facility must also have a comprehensive
evacuation plan in case of emergency.
Locker Rooms
A minimum of four team locker rooms are required. Team locker rooms must feature shower facilities, toilets,
chalkboard/dry erase board, lockers and seats. In addition, two secured rooms (one per gender) shall be provided
for game officials for dressing, pre-game, post-game and halftime.
Playing Surface
The volleyball courts, nets, equipment, etc., must meet be compliant with NCAA Volleyball Playing rules.
Seating
The HOST facility must have a minimum seating capacity of 1,000.
Practice
HOST shall provide each team a practice session of at least 45 minutes at the facility one day prior to the start of
the tournament.
Competitors Section
A designated seating area for participating coaches and players is to be established so they can sit and watch when
they are not competing.
NJCAA TV Video Streaming
All games of the tournament are to be broadcasted on NJCAA TV – the official digital video network of the NJCAA.
Facility must have reliable, dedicated (not shared) hard line internet connection with 10 MBPS upload to be used
exclusively by NJCAA TV (click here for additional tech info). HOST is to assist NJCAA Sports Properties in securing
equipment, camera operations, play-by-play talent, etc. HOST shall be responsible for all costs associated with the
overall production of a live, high-definition (HD) video stream for each contest to the standards set by the NJCAA.
This responsibility includes the hiring of a production company and incurring expenses related to the overall
production with the approval of the NJCAA. The NJCAA has the exclusive rights to the final broadcast product and
how/when/where it is distributed.

Matches will be played on Friday (matches 1-8) and Saturday (matches 9-12) with each team playing three
matches.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Team Qualification
All 8 teams will qualify for the national tournament by winning their district tournament. Winners of each district
tournament will be posted on the NJCAA website upon completion. Once all 8 teams have qualified for the
tournament, the Division III Seeding Committee will seed the tournament bracket. The championship bracket shall
be an 8-team consolation bracket. In the event there is an open berth, the DIII Volleyball Committee shall fill the
open berth using the following criteria:
1. District runner-up of the district whose champion is unable to attend
2. Host College
3. Substitution order made based on order provided by NJCAA.

Roster
An official roster is to be submitted by each qualifying team. Official roster submitted must reflect the same
number and name for each player regardless of uniform color throughout the tournament.
Playing Rules
All matches shall be best 3 of 5. Higher seeds will always wear light colored uniforms. NCAA Volleyball Rules will
be used with the following exceptions:
1. The attack line extension may be temporary.
2. Only one coach is allowed to stand at any time during play.
- One visible scoreboard for each court shall be used.
- The championship shall determine places 1-8 in order of finish.
Warm Up Procedure
2 minutes shared stretching & coin toss
- 4 minutes visiting team

OFFICIAL BALL
The official volleyball of the NJCAA is to be used in all tournament games (brand will be identified prior to start of
2015 season). The NJCAA will furnish balls for the tournament. Ball pressure must range from 4.3 to 4.6 lbs.
SECURITY, CROWD CONTROL
HOST is responsible for all security and crowd control measures for the championship.
PLAYER DRESS
Removing or changing into or out of any part of the official team competition uniform while in the area of
competition shall lead to a warning. A repeat offense leads to disqualification of the individual(s) for the next
match. A warning stays in place for the entire tournament.
GAME OFFICIALS
HOST is responsible for the contracting and assigning of game officials for the championship. Officials must be
certified PAVO or USA Volleyball rated. In addition, rated officials as line judges and scorers are to be used for
bracket play. Officials will be allowed to work the Division III Volleyball Championship for a maximum of three (3)
consecutive years. The NJCAA encourages the HOST to contract officials that have experience working NJCAA
Volleyball matches.
The HOST is responsible for having a Supervisor of Officials on its tournament staff to coordinate the assigning of
officials throughout the tournament.
At least thirty (30) days prior to the start of the tournament, HOST is to provide the NJCAA with the name and
credentials of all officials contracted as well as the name and contact information of the person serving as the
Supervisor of Officials for the tournament.
The HOST is responsible for providing travel expenses, pier diem, lodging and game fees of game / event officials.
AWARDS
All tournament awards listed below are to be presented by the HOST following the conclusion of the championship
game. HOST shall arrange an awards selection committee to determine award winners (NJCAA Sport Chair will
lead this committee).
The NJCAA will furnish a suggested awards script that HOST may edit/alter to their needs.
The following awards will be ordered by NJCAA Headquarters and be billed to the tournament HOST:
A. Awards for first, second, and third place teams.
B. Each player on the first place team shall receive a gold medal. There shall be 14 medals.
C. Each player on the second place team shall receive a NJCAA silver medal. There shall be 14 medals.
D. Coach of the Tournament Award
E. Most Valuable Player Award
F. All-Tournament Team of 12 players will be selected and awarded medals.
Estimated Awards Cost for HOST: $800.00
HOTEL REQUIREMENTS
- 8 room blocks with 10 double rooms per block

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
HOST will provide travel, housing, meals and/or meal per diem for duration of the tournament for the NJCAA Sport
Chair (or designee) and *NJCAA Headquarters staff member (or designee). HOST will also secure complimentary
lodging (2 rooms – double beds) for *NJCAA TV. *NJCAA HQ will notify HOST 60 days prior to the tournament if these
rooms will be needed.
