About DTU CANSAT
DTU CanSat team of Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi College of
Engineering) focuses on the field of mini-satellites. The Team consists of
undergraduate Students pursuing their studies from various fields in DTU under the
guidance of Professor Rishu Chaujar (Dept of Applied Physics) And Professor P.B
Sharma (Vice Chancellor, DTU). The team is participating in the Annual CanSat
competition 2014 organized by the American Astronautical Society (AAS) in
association with the coveted National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
and Naval Research Labs.
CanSat Zenith is the first CanSat
of the team. This Cansat is
capable of deploying aero
braking mechanism and also
perform
live
telemetry
operations
including
autonomous deployment from
launch rocket. The field of
satellite has a lot of potential as
it has wide range of applications
in the field of space sciences and
aeronautical engineering.
CanSat
A CanSat is a simulation of a real satellite that performs a mission and
collects data. Typical missions can be atmospheric measurements,
video capture, picture taking, communications or navigations and
remote sensing.
CanSat and Competition
The annual CanSat competition will be held in Texas in June 2014
organized by The American Astronautical Society (AAS) and American
Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) in association with
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Naval
Research Labs.
The objective of this year’s competition is to successfully land a cansat
deployed from a height of 670m using aero braking techniques and
passive descent control system. The CanSat has to collect atmospheric
readings and measurements and transmit them to the ground station.
Zenith will deploy from the rocket autonomously and will use the
passive descent control mechanism so as to lower its velocity. At a
certain height the second stage of the system will take over and aero
braking will be deployed so as to successfully land the structure
without causing any damage.
CanSat 2014 Competition Tasks
1. Delivering sensor payload
2. Carrying out various readings via GPS, barometer, temperature
sensor, camera, etc.
3. Safely Deploying and Landing CanSat using aero-braking
techniques

Why We Need Sponsorships?
Your financial support will help us to
•Purchase the high precision sensors, fiber glass and other expensive
materials for fabrication of different parts of the CanSat. You may see our
detailed budget for more information about the same.
•Cover the required airfare and lodging expenses.
Why Sponsor Our Project?
We intend to participate in the Annual CanSat competition 2014 held in Texas,
USA, where top teams from around the world participate.
•Publicity at this competition at international level provides you an interface to
interact with the world's leading technical minds and establishments.
•We shall showcase your company by displaying your logo on our CanSat,
website and the team's official t-shirt, which is worn at the competition and all
other team events.
•Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi College of Engineering) with its
history of over 70 years has been active in encouraging and supporting new
innovations and technical endeavors.
•Your name associated with DTU will help you gain respect at a large scale in
the technical and student communities.
•Also the competition is held in association with NASA which will give us an
opportunity to showcase our designs in front of the industry's best minds.
Applications of CanSat
