AFI’s Warehouse Incentive Program
At Affiliated Foods, when we hire a new order selector there is a working standard that must be met in the first 60 days of employment. The Warehouse Management System calculates time for each store order based on Engineered Labor Standard. This time standard must be met at 100% by the first 60 days. Once
the selector achieves 100% of standard and keeps that standard or above, they become qualified order selectors. This process helps orders to be pulled in a
timely manner.

Exercise of the brain is as important as
exercise of the muscles. As we grow
older, it's important to keep mentally
alert. If you don't use it, you lose it!
4 Questions begin with 1
Spring begins on March 20th, 2014
#1. What do you put in a toaster?
Answer: 'bread.' If you said 'toast,' just give up now, and go do something else. And, try not to hurt yourself! If
you said, bread, go to Question #2.
# 2. Say 'silk' five times. Now spell 'silk.'
What do cows drink?
Do not cheat by reading ahead!
Answer: Cows drink water. If you said 'milk,' don't attempt the next question. Your brain is already over-stressed
and may even overheat. Content yourself with reading more appropriate literature such as Women's Weekly or Auto
World. However, if you did say 'water,' proceed to…..Question #3.

AFI Bakery / Deli News
The Holidays and football season is
over but we have some spectacular
events coming up in March. Let’s
paint our Deli and Bakery departments green. St. Patrick's day is celebrated everywhere and it is another
great opportunity for big sales in our
departments. Let’s make some Ruben
Sandwiches, pack some coleslaw and
for those of us that have the hot cases
let’s promote green cabbage, corn
beef and potatoes. Add green olives,
green beans, peas and carrots as sides
to get our customers in the mode for
Saint Patty’s day. If you have Aguas
Frescas put some green dye in the
Limon aid or if you don’t carry this
items you might want to try it and see
what it does.
March is also the start for Baseball,
March Madness in College basket
ball, and Lent season. Make sure you
have fish and cheese enchiladas in
your hot case as a lot of people do not
eat meat on Fridays. You might want
to make Cheese Chili Rejeno burritos,
bean and cheese burritos, and fish
tacos. And don’t forget spring break,
the kids are out of school so pizza,
chicken wings, chicken tenders, sandwiches, salads, and fried chicken
sales will increase.
Let’s have fun and push for sales,
make your departments colorful and
give them a theme there is a lot of
great and exciting things going on in
March.
Thank you!
Bobby
For the month of March you need to
make plans for lent. Starting with Marti
Gras; check your local area and see if
there will be Marti Gras type celebrations in the area and prepare for those
accordingly. Then Ash Wednesday is
March 5th and you need to have plenty
of dinner rolls and bolillos for every
weekend with picnic cakes or whatever
you think will go with cookouts or picnics. Also during this month make plans
for San Patrick’s Day that is on March
17th and turn your bakery/deli green;
decorate for St. Patrick’s Day with
cookies, cupcakes, cakes and make your
bakery/deli stand out.
First day of spring is March 20st so be
sure to decorate for spring and start getting ready for Easter which will be on
April 20th. Make sure that you use
pretty spring colors and make your bakery/deli area stand out and attract those
customers to your area. Take advantage
of these upcoming holidays and go for
sales!
Remember we are here to help all of our
member stores from myself going to the
stores with merchandising ideas, training, and support, and also our technicians/vendors. So give me call if we
can help you in any of these areas of
expertise and I will schedule myself, the
technicians/vendors to help at your store
(s).
I will see you at the Food Show
Also this month in the bakery/deli departments you can make Capirotada
(Mexican bread pudding); you can make
this product that Hispanics use every
Jaime
week during lent with Bread Pudding
Mix from Brill (Item #61309). I includJaime Ortega / Sales Manager
ed the recipe on the box of bread pud/ Bakery/Deli
ding.

Also in April we will have the Affiliated
Spring Food Show; this will be on April
10th in Amarillo’s Civic Center. Keep
in mind that whatever you order at the
Food Show will be delivered to you two
times; we will have big discounts on
some of those bakery products so make
sure and ask the vendors for prices and
take advantage of the bakery items presented at the food show. Make sure and
take a look at the different ideas presented on cookies, cakes, cupcakes and
take those ideas back home to your bakery and delis. These can help increase
your sales for the spring. If you need
any help on make, decorating or ordering these items, let us know; we are
here to help.

Cont. from page 5...# 3. If a red house is made from red bricks, and a blue house is made from blue bricks, and a pink house is made from pink bricks, and a
black house is made from black bricks, what is a green house made from?
Answer: Greenhouses are made from glass. If you said 'green bricks,' why are you still reading this??? PLEASE, go lie down !!! But, if you said 'glass,' go on to
Question #4.
# 4. Do not use a calculator for this: You are driving a bus from New York City to Philadelphia. In Staten Island, 17 people got on the bus. In New Brunswick, 6
people get off the bus, and 9 people get on. In Windsor, 2 people get off, and 4 get on. In Trenton, 11 people get off and 16 people get on. In Bristol, 3 people get
off, and 5 people get on. And, in Camden, 6 people get off, and 3 get on. You then arrive at Philadelphia Station. Without going back to review, how old is the bus
driver?
Answer: Oh, for crying out loud!!! Don't you remember your own age?!? It was YOU, driving the bus!!! If you pass this along to your friends, pray that they do
better than you.
P.S.: 95% of people fail most of the questions!!!
