learning will be fully supported in class by teachers
and personal coaches. Where necessary they will
also receive small group support or individual
tuition. The school will work closely with external
agencies to formally assess and actively support
any children with learning needs.
Formal
Consultation
Process
Behaviour
We will have the highest expectations of behaviour
for adults and students alike. Our policies,
procedures and practices will be developed by the
whole school community and be based on mutual
respect tolerance and care for others.
There is a public meeting taking place to
discuss the proposals on Wednesday 5th
November, from 6-8pm, at Bishop Walsh
School, Wylde Green Rd, Sutton Coldfield,
West Midlands B76 1QT.
This meeting will cover both the statutory
academy consultation as well as the site
planning proposals. Anyone is welcome to
attend.

To help the young people to achieve these aims,
guidance will be given about which behaviours are
supportive and helpful and make the school a better
place to be. We will encourage students to develop
an awareness of their own behaviour and its effects
on others and to help them develop mature and
thoughtful self-control.
Inappropriate behaviour will be challenged within an
understanding, caring and supportive context.
Staff will use a variety of strategies based on the
following beliefs:

That appropriate and supportive behaviour
should always be acknowledged, valued and
rewarded.

That student’s self-esteem should be enhanced.

That inappropriate behaviour will be challenged.

Introducing EBN Academy Phase 2
Mission Statement
Formal Consultation on
EBN Academy will be an Alternative
Provision school in Birmingham for 90
students aged 13-16 years. This is an
application from a network of 12 Head
Teachers of Secondary Schools and
Academies across East Birmingham. These
schools in the East Birmingham Network
already collaborate on a range of curriculum
and pupil support areas including behaviour
and attendance and post-16 provision.
EBN Academy will be a safe, well ordered and
caring learning environment which will deliver
high quality education to all its students. We will
support them to develop their individual potential
for growth, self-worth and self-control through
experiencing outstanding teaching, clear and
consistent guidance and support.
EBN Academy Phase 2
We aim to provide a school of high
educational standards which offers a real
alternative to the existing provision on offer
in this part of Birmingham for this cohort of
students. We want our school to meet the
needs of the students who attend EBN
Academy by offering high quality wrap
around care.
EBN Academy will be a school where
parents, whatever their circumstances and
needs, feel able to entrust their children to
us; confident that we will support and guide
them to achieve their very best
educationally, socially and physically in an
environment that puts students’ individual
needs at the top of the agenda.
More information on the EBN Academy can
be found at:

The Building and Transport Links
Subject to planning permission the building
will be on Eachelhusrt Road in Walmley.
The identified site will be influenced by its
accessibility and proximity to the number 11
bus route and other key bus routes which
will allow all students referred to EBN Academy to commute easily.
The academic curriculum will fulfil our principle
aim of providing access to a range of accredited
qualifications as well as educational and social
experiences, which will address the learning and
emotional needs of our students. We will support
every student to develop their true potential and
make a positive contribution to their community
as they progress towards adult life.
Admissions
There will be no formal admissions application
process for parents instead a system of referrals
will be established. Evidence based referrals will
be accepted from EBN Schools or relevant Local
Authorities.
