Welcome to the 8th EPM conference Electromagnetic Processing of Materials (EPM) relates to all branches of materials processing where some benefit could be attained from an electromagnetic influence on the process. This covers traditional areas such as liquid metal processing, metal casting and solidification, induction heating, but also crystal growth from the melt, plasma processes, recycling, separation,.... The series of EPM conferences was initiated in 1994 by S. Asai (Japan) and M. Garnier (France). It takes place every three years alternating between Europa and Asia (Nagoya 1994, Paris 1997, Nagoya 2000, Lyon 2003, Sendai 2006, Dresden 2009, Beijing 2012). The conference is open for any kind of materials processing involving electric or magnetic fields. It intends to bring together people from academic institutions, industry and related equipment manufacturers. For its eighth edition, we chose a prestigious location in Cannes, famous for its International Film Festival. The hotel is located on the Croisette in front of the Palais des Festivals. It boasts a private beach overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. We are looking forward to welcome you in Cannes. The EPM2015 Organizing Committee. Topics
EPM2015 covers all aspects of Electromagnetic Processing of Materials, from fundamentalts
to applications. The conference will include but will not be limited to :
1. Fundamental of EPM, MHD, theory & modeling 2. Induction heating, plasma processing & related heat treatment 3. Electromagnetic melting, a. Cold crucible, VIM, VAR, ... b. Particle removal / addition; stirring, braking, vibration,... 4. EM shaping or forming, mixing, magnetic or EM levitation 5. Liquid metal processing: steel, aluminium, titanium, copper, magnesium... 6. Solidification, crystal growth under external fields, EM casting,... 7. Advanced materials processing in static or alternating magnetic field 8. Other processes under external fields, electrochemistry, magnetic, electric, electrostatic, microwaves,... 9. Measuring techniques in liquid metal flows and nondestructive control/wireless energy transfer (by induction) 10. Equipment for EPM, EM pumps, EM brakes, EM stirrers, power sources,... 11. Low electrical conductivity liquid processing, oxides, glasses, electrolytes ... 12. Recycling by EM / Magnetic processes Abstracts
Formatoftheabstract
The deadline for submission of the abstracts will be 1th January 2015 Abstracts should not exceed one A4 page and the submission should include a suitable title and names, affiliations and e‐mail addresses of all authors as well as chosen topic. Since the conference proceedings will be published after the conference, an abstract book will be available for the delegates at the conference. You can help us to reduce the workload by following closely the specifications for the abstract. Abstract template : see end of this PDF To upload your abstract proposal, you must create an account (login and password) in "my space" at the bottom left of this website. You will also use this account to submit your conference proceeding and follow the reviewing process. Guidelinesforpresentations
Oralpresentations
Oral presentation time, including questions/answers is 20 minutes. Timekeeping will be enforced by the chairman of the session to keep the synchronisation between parallel sessions. As a general guideline you should calculate 1‐2 minutes per slide, so for a 15 minute presentation, more than 10 slides is often too much. Posterpresentations
The format should be A1 (594 mm × 841 mm) portrait. Posters must contain authors' names, title of presentation and materials such as graphs, charts, tables and photographs that are necessary to communicate the research effectively. Each presenter will have his/her own hard standing panel to which the poster will be affixed. A sign for each panel will be provided by the conference organisers and will contain the title of the presentation as submitted, authors' names, and poster number. Posters will be on display daily starting on Tuesday morning. Authors should be available at their posters for protracted discussions on the poster session : Wenesday, 14 from 16:20 to 19:00. There will be an award for outstanding poster presentations. Proceedings
The deadline for submission of the articles will be 1th June 2015. All submitted articles will be peer reviewed. The accepted papers will be published in a book under ISBN number. Proceedings template at the end of this PDF Deadlines
