The Chairman led the Committee and guests in self-introductions.
The April minutes were discussed and approved.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Legislative: No report
Legislative Breakfast:
Alice B. Chandler was not present to make a report.
MEMBER SPECIAL ACTIVITY REPORTS:
District I- Mike McKelroy reported that 20 WWII Veterans, and 10 Guardians will be going
on the next Honor Flight which will be on May 16, 2014. Mike reported that the VAC voted
Marquis Palmer to be an at large member of the VAC at the last meeting.
District II- No report
District III- Irene Klockentager reported that there are big changes occurring at VFW
District 22 and 23.
District IV- Shirley turned in her written activity report to the Chairman.
District V- Anita reported that she is working on a Veterans Bills. There are many different
eligibility criteria for their Habitat Homes. Congressman Ruiz will give a speech in July.
Congressman Ruiz is helping veterans cut the red tape with the VA. Anita wants to help
March Air Reserve Base reservists in need of food assistance.
Mike Mizak is working with Honor Flight trying to raise money to take WWII veterans to
Washington to see the WWII Memorial. The next flight will be May 16, 2014 with 20 WWII
veterans. He is still working with the War Dogs.
NEW BUSINESS:
The VAC voted and approved Marquise T. Palmer as an At-Large VAC member at the
last VAC meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
Friend of Veterans Award. Nominations should be from organizations, posts and people that
help veterans and do not get paid.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Lewis Wright reported that he is on the Executive Committee for the new Veterans Memorial
being built in Norco.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The next legislative breakfast will be on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Coco’s, 1303 University Avenue,
Riverside, CA 92507 at 9 a.m.. Assemblyman Eric Linder, R- 60 district , will be our
distinguished guest.
The Riverside Area Veterans Expo will be on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at MARB.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
Next regular meeting will be on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Riverside County
Department of Veterans’ Services, 4360 Orange St., Riverside, CA 92501 at 6 p.m.
*The VAC meeting is being held on a Wednesday instead of the regular
Tuesday due to Tuesday, June 3, 2014 being Election Day.
