Employment and Reemployment Rights
Act
USERRA protects the job rights of
individuals who voluntarily or involuntarily
leave employment positions to undertake
military service or certain types of service
in the National Disaster Medical System.
USERRA also prohibits employers from
discriminating against past and present
members of the uniformed services, and
applicants to the uniformed services.
VWIP01 - VETS Workforce Investment
Program
A competitive grant program offered by
the Veterans’ Employment and Training
Service (VETS) of the U.S. Department
of Labor. VWIP-funded programs are
intended to meet the workforce investment
needs of Veterans and to perform outreach
and public information activities to develop
and promote employment and job training
opportunities.
VP01 - Veterans Preference
Preference applies in hiring for many
positions within the Federal competitive
service, and provides a uniform method
by which special consideration is given to
qualified Veterans. Veterans’ preference
laws do not, however, guarantee
Veterans a job, nor do they give Veterans’
preference in internal agency actions such
as promotion, transfer, reassignment, and
reinstatement.
IVTP01 - Incarcerated VETS Transition Program
Under the program, grantees provide supportive
services to eligible Incarcerated Veterans who
are “at risk” of becoming homeless. The intent
of the program is to provide direct services
through a case management approach that
leverages Federal, State and local resources.
Incarcerated Veterans are connected with
appropriate employment and life skills support
as they transition from correctional facilities into
the community.
ESV01 - Employment Services
Veterans and eligible spouses receive
access, on a priority of service basis, to the
full range of public employment and training
services, including job search assistance
workshops, resume assistance, labor market
information, career counseling, job referral,
and referral to other supportive and training
resources.
TAP01 - Transition Assistance Program
The Transition Assistance Program
(TAP) was established to offer
job search assistance and related
services to separating service
members during their period of
transition into civilian life.
HFVP01 - Homeless Females Veterans and
Homeless Veterans with Families Program

program provides direct services through a case
management approach that leverages Federal,
State and local resources. Eligible Veterans are
connected with appropriate employment and life
skills support to ensure a successful integration into the workforce.
