Please review all enclosed information, as well as the FAF/webpage/scholarship Section, regarding the scholarships and their requirements. If you are interested in these named scholarships, please indicate by marking an X next to ANY and ALL scholarships which you may qualify. Since each scholarship is different regarding academic performance, financial need, activities, and career interests, PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO INDIVIDUAL SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS AS SOME REQUIRE LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION IN ADDITION TO THE APPLICATION. PLEASE NOTE: Winners of scholarships managed by FAF will receive their money next fall; this money may be used for any academic expense once enrollment in college has been verified although some scholarships will require enrollment in a specific major or field. Even though a specific GPA is not required for some scholarships, your grades indicate your determination, commitment to excellence, and reflect your aptitude for a committed college experience. Bryce Rinehart Memorial Scholarship – open to students pursuing a degree in higher learning and MUST HAVE PARTICIPATED IN A SPORT FOR 4 CONSECUTIVE YEARS, with secondary factors based on need and grade point average. THE FAMILY APPROVES THE RECIPIENT. Corinna L. Dodge Memorial Scholarship – open to students pursuing a degree in higher learning with study focused on GRAPHIC DESIGN OR COMMUNICATIONS. If none in those majors, then those pursuing a degree in art, architectural design, or web page design. THE FAMILY APPROVES THE RECIPIENT. “Dode” Briscoe Scholarship – OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS pursuing a degree from an institution of higher learning Trent Briscoe Memorial Scholarship – The student must be pursuing a degree in agriculture and enrolled in an institution of higher learning. THE FAMILY APPROVES THE RECIPIENT. Dorothy Davis Scholarship – open to students who have enrolled in Spanish classes at FHS. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE SEEKING A DEGREE IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES. Dr. Eugene D. Foss Medical Scholarship – open to students pursuing a MEDICAL DEGREE (MD). A GPA of 4.00 on a 5.00 scale is required. Flora Lumber Co. Scholarship – Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA, community involvement, and extracurricular activities to apply for this scholarship. Floyd Henson Scholarship – open to all students going into the field of EDUCATION. Floyd C. Smith Scholarship – open to all students going into the field of EDUCATION; a provision is made for consideration of FHS faculty pursing an advanced degree. Fred Cycholl Memorial Nursing Scholarship – open to students who are pursuing a nursing career. Jan and Doug Phillips Scholarship – open to students pursuing a degree in higher education with an urgent financial need and average grades. 6 Jerry Jennings Memorial Scholarship – open to students pursuing a degree in higher education who have participated in the high school track program with at least a B average; students who have participated in an athletic program may be considered. Leona Stanford-Vollintine Scholarship – student pursuing a degree in higher education. The major criteria for consideration is financial need. Roger L. Wells Scholarship – open to students pursuing a degree in higher education in business, preferably with an emphasis in BANKING or FINANCE. Shannon Orel Memorial Scholarship – open to FHS seniors who have been an athlete in any sport all 4 years. Emphasis on Golf interest/athletics. A one page essay explaining your interest and participation in that sport must accompany this application. Selection is approved by the family. NAL Scholarship for Excellence – students interested in pursuing a degree in engineering or business related field. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or more. Requires TWO letters of recommendation from school administration, a letter outlining financial need, and a cover letter expressing the importance of advanced education to the applicant. Flora Academic Foundation Endowment Scholarships – students pursuing a degree in higher education with grades that indicate a likelihood of success in a college program. Proof of acceptance at an institution of higher learning is required; financial need, community service, and school involvement will be considered. Mary Beth Stine FCCLA-Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship - students eligible for this scholarship must be pursuing a degree in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences or Early Childhood Education K-5and have been active member of FCCLA for two years and have completed 3 credits in the Family and Consumer Science Dept. Hella-Walter Genthe Memorial Scholarship – open to students pursuing a four year degree in engineering or related technical discipline; consideration of financial need, academic, community service, and citizenship criteria for the scholarship. Preference is given to eligible dependents of Hella employees. NAL-Walter Genthe Memorial Scholarship – open to students pursuing an engineering or business degree; at least a GPA with a B average, evidence of financial need, and community service are also required. Joe and Treva Russell Scholarship – open to students pursuing a degree in any medical field. Recipients will be chosen based on financial need and GPA. Selection is approved by the family. 7 Walter Sledge Scholarship – open to students with a passion for golf. III.
