Precinct
16 May 2014
Expressions of Interest have opened for the sale and development of the Bundaberg Port Riverfront
Mixed Use Residential Precinct, Barubbra Shores.
The Barubbra Shores development area includes approximately 13 hectares of freehold waterfront land as
well as around 1.6 hectares of wet lease.
Planning documents call for a mixed-use precinct including improved waterway riverfront and marina
access, new parklands, new retail, tourism and business facilities and new residential opportunities.
Gladstone Ports Corporation is the vendor of Barrubra Shores and has engaged highly respected
marketing agency, Savills to market the opportunity to the world.
Port of Bundaberg Manager, Jason Pascoe said Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) is excited to offer this
unique development opportunity to the market.
“GPC hopes that the EOI process will attract a high quality developer who will deliver something special
and in turn create new business and jobs for our region,” Mr Pascoe said.
Marketing agents Robert Dunne and Gregory Woods of Savills said Barubbra Shores represents one of the
finest coastal development sites currently available in Australia.
“It is an outstanding location that provides a gateway to the spectacular natural attractions at the
southern end of the Great Barrier Reef and the northern end of the World Heritage-listed Fraser Island.
“The direct access to renowned boating, fishing and diving waters as well as unique island environments is
matched by the unrivalled size of the development opportunity.
“The 13 hectares of freehold waterfront land includes a huge 1 kilometre of direct water frontage and 1.6
hectares of wet lease and supports a wide variety of future uses including residential, commercial, retail,
tourism and parkland.
“It is extremely rare to have a direct waterfront offering of this size, positioned at the doorstop of some of
Queensland’s most famous coastal attractions, only 3.5 hours drive north of Brisbane and serviced daily
