INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
GENERAL INFORMATION
Thank you for choosing Stein Bathroomware. When you receive your Ezi-Lay Tile Tray package
please check for any damage. If damage has occurred advise your supplier immediately
and do not proceed with installation.
INSTALLATION NOTES
• The Ezi-Lay tile tray is lightweight, simple to install and can be cut with a handsaw or skill
saw and sharp knife to fit any shape or size.
• Hobs included (only use if applicable).
• Do not use a solvent based adhesive on the exposed foam edge of tile tray or hobs.
• Waterproofing is required prior to tiling.
MATERIALS REQUIRED (NOT INCLUDED)
• Bonding Glue: Fullers Maxibond Cartridges
• Sealer/Bonding: Urethane Cartridge
FLOOR PREPARATION
1. The floor must be level. Check for any lumps that may affect alignment of the Ezi-Lay
Tray. The tray needs full floor support and floor levelling compound may be required
on concrete or timber floors. Ensure the base is clean prior to applying floor levelling
compound.
2. The wall board adjacent to the tray installation must be a suitable for purpose in wet areas
and fastened as manufactures specifications (NOTE: Final placement of the Ezi-Lay tray is
against the wall, not rebated into the wall).
3. A registered plumber must be consulted to identify suitable waste and waste installation.
Any gaps around the waste in the floor must be filled.
4. Level entry applications require a recess equal to the thickest part of the tray plus
approximately 3mm to allow for glue thickness. Secure the Ezi-Lay Tray prior to pouring a
concrete floor so any variances in thickness or configuration are allowed for.
WATERPROOFING
The waterproofing must be an accredited system and applied by a registered applicator that
can provide a Producer Statement for the local council. Refer to Installation Step 5 for more
details. This is a critical part of the process to ensure a durable and watertight enclosure.

Mark out on the floor the intended position of the Ezi-Lay Tile Tray including the hobs if
required. Do not rebate the tray into the wall. Use a registered plumber to install a waste
system that is compatible with this application.
2
Clean and prepare the floor for the shower base. Cut out the components to suit and
check these fit into place. Ensure that the waste fittings line up.

Turn over the Ezi-Lay tile tray (and hobs if being used) and apply the recommended
adhesive to the underside of the base and within the tray perimeter. Adhesive should be
applied in a bead of approximately 8x8mm using a 55mm grid pattern 25mm in from the
outer edges. Bond and seal all tray end joints including tray end joint to hob with a white
urethane. This will seal the tray prior to the waterproofing process. Clean of any excess
glue and sealer as needed (NOTE: This cannot be done with solvent based glue).

Place the tray into position and apply pressure over the surface. Have the tray weighted
down for at least half a day to achieve initial bond. Wait a minimum of 24 hours to fully
cure before commencing waterproofing and tiling (consult manufactures specification
for exact curing time). This stage is critical and any short changing of cure times will
compromise the end result.

ADHESIVE MUST BE CURED
BEFORE WATERPROOFING
CAN BE APPLIED
5
Consult with the Tiler to choose a compatible waterproofing system. Complete the
waterproofing and ensure it is applied by a Certified Applicator and complies with
the manufactures requirements. Application must cover past the complete shower
boundaries from the top across the base including the hobs. Attention to detailing
the waterproofing down into the leak control puddle flange or in the case of a channel
drain all areas must be covered. The council may also require the entire floor area in the
bathroom to be completely waterproofed. If any doubt contact your local council to
clarify the requirements in your area.

The tiling process can proceed once all waterproofing is complied with by council. The
height of the channel waste must be set up so it aligns flush with the tile surface. The
final alignment and details to waste must comply with local council requirements.
