Zinfandel 2012 — this estate zinfandel is once again a classic — clean
finish, blackberry and anise, mineral aromas, perfect with your New
Year’s roast beef. 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon — this wine has soft
tannins yet very complex. A great wine for those winter beef stews.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT CHEF GREAT!
A great chef can’t build his reputation on his laurels alone, he depends on
others to help him with his decisions on what ingredients he will choose in
preparation of his dishes. Chef’s support people like farmers, dairyman,
cheese makers, butchers, bread bakers and fisherman — these are the
purveyors behind the chef. We would like to introduce you to some of the
people behind the chef. In this interesting class, we will learn a bit about
these purveryors and taste some of the fresh foods they produce in dishes
prepared by Chef Damon Barham. You’ll have
a chance to ask questions of these purveryors
who take pride in producing a product that
makes “Great Chefs Great”. 1pm. $40. RSVP
by calling (530) 647-8505.
FEB
We are proud to be associated with the Deaver family
historical Mission Vineyard. This vineyard was
planted in 1853, the oldest known continuously
producing vineyard in the United States.
The first Misión grapes were planted, circa 1770,
in the Misión de San Diego de Alcala, the cuttings
coming from the Canary Islands via Mexico. It is an
honor for Miraflores to be given the opportunity to
work with these treasured grapes and to participate
in producing the oldest of the Californian wines.
We are sincerely hoping that the Miraflores Misión wine will give you and
your friends an appreciation for the wine produced in the past by the Padres in
the late 1700 and in the 1800’s.

NEW & NOTABLE WINE
FUTURES RELEASE PARTY
2012 Reserve Zinfandel • 2012 Tinteretto • 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon
If you purchased futures, look for your release party invitation coming soon
in the mail. Join us for an afternoon of wine & food pairings with your newly
released futures.
This inaugural Misión wine from Deaver vineyards was produced in a dry
style that respects the natural character and balance of the varietal. Misión
grapes are generally not possessed with dark color or robust tannins, and as a
result the wine shows a fresh, brilliant rose hue, with delicious fresh cherry,
berry and red-apple flavors and aromas. Despite the lack of significant tannin
structure, the palate has uncommon weight and complexity and should show
continued development with a few years in the cellar.
SOUP SUNDAY
Every Sunday this month stop by Miraflores and
enjoy a complimentary bowl of soup, a piece of crusty
bread and a sip of the wine especially chosen to pair
with the soup. Chef Janet makes rich, delicious,
exceptional soups for us during these cold months of winter.
