s k a O e h T r e d Un Issue: 12 Munroe...The Place To Grow Technology Is Our Priority! Interactive White Boards allow teachers to integrate lesson plans into hands-on class instruction. Increased bandwidth allows all internet users on campus to connect to the web. RFM’s commitment to the use of technology is becoming apparent as you enter classrooms. Every student in grades 6-12 now has his own iPad. Most academic classes use downloaded, interactive textbooks. In-room projectors and Interactive White Boards connect students and teachers, allowing for hands-on lessons. Students are able to turn in assignments via Google Drive. All faculty and staff are interconnected with sharable databases and documents. Students and parents can check the Parent’s Portal to view grades, attendance and school news. With a 3 year plan for continued advances, RFM is committed to teaching for tomorrow. Faculty member, Scott Bergman, wears many hats. “IT guru” is one he seldom takes off. All middle and high school students have iPads, and interactive textbooks. Re-Accreditation Year For Robert F. Munroe Day School RFM is completing its Five Year Self Study and seeking re-accreditation. With this process complete, the school will achieve recognition through FKC, FCIS and nationally with SACS. The Accreditation team visit is scheduled for April 13. A special thanks to Dr. Kathy Ashman for taking a lead role in this project. As a result of the SACS, RFM students residing in Georgia will be eligible for the Georgia Hope Scholarship. 8th Grade DC Trip 12th Grade Colorado ski trip 9th grade trip to Alabama Mark Your Calendars May Day Tuesday, April 30 7:00pm Thursday, May 1 Grandparents Day 9:30am Page 2 Did you know…Funding for daily operations of the school comes directly from tuition? All other EXTRA school needs are met through financial GIFTS. Special gifts allow us to provide the many things that make RFM shine, such as downloadable interactive text books, FASST, music and technology services. Athletes Sweat with FASST Vic Culley, RFMs new football coach, is bringing his background of strength training to all varsity and jv athletes. The program serves as additional conditioning that will augment the current sports’ regimens. Students build muscle and stamina to better prepare them for their individual sports. Accelerated Reader Adds Online Access Students are now able to access AR tests from a nearly unlimited list of book titles via the new addition of our online service. AR is a software tool that assesses a student’s reading level. It helps teachers assist, motivate reading, monitor progress, and target instruction. Little Red School House Still a Place for Learning The Little Red School house is now home to the RFM tutoring program for 2nd-8th grade students. Irene Ford-Lewis works with individuals each morning to supplement their verbal/reading and also math skills. Students qualify to receive assistance through testing, teacher recommendations, or parent requests. This is the third year of the program, and students have shown measurable progress on standardized testing as well as class work. Funding for the program is through Gadsden County Title 1. The number of current participants ranges from 25-30 children.
